Director - Sales and Marketing - The Sam Houston Hotel - Houston


Job description
The big picture of what we want you to do
Develop and implement strategic and tactical marketing plans in order to achieve budgeted revenue and profit growth
Direct sales team staffing, deployment, training, performance evaluations, goal setting
Develop annual, quarterly and monthly forecasts to achieve hotel's objectives for Occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and respective Market Share as measured by leading industry third parties
Develop and manage sales/marketing operating budgets, including promotional and travel expenses

Plan and oversee advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail
Develop and recommend product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy
Direct and/or participate heavily in daily, weekly and monthly business review and revenue management meetings evaluating market research and adjusting marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions
Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers, key strategic partners, and key clients/guests
Communicate strategies, tactics, goals, results, etc to hotel and senior management
Establish and maintain a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events
Represent the hotel and management company at trade association meetings to promote hotel
Manage third party service provider (e.g. Travel Click) relationships

Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications we want to see
At least 5 years full service hotel experience as a DOSM required
Opening or rebranding experience preferred
Hilton Worldwide experience preferred
Excellent sales and negotiation skills
Excellent business acumen
Excellent communication skills
Excellent planning and organizational skills
Initiative, drive, enthusiasm, fun
