Director - Operations - Kuusakoski - Chicago


Job description
The Director of Operations will lead the daily operations across multiple facilities, focusing on efficient and economical recycling utilizing lean production and continual improvement techniques. This person will provide leadership, supervision and oversight to the Plant Managers across our three locations. The primary focus of this role is to ensure goals (safety, quality, production and cost) are achieved through the efficient use of resources.

Essential Duties:
Monitor and control labor and capital expenditures to ensure that budgets, schedules and performance requirements are met.

Develop and establish plans and procedures for maintaining high standards of processing operations that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
Direct and monitor department managers to accomplish goals. Act as the liaison between department management and the leadership team to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance and results.
Ensure that product quality, yield, operating costs and process efficiencies are met.
Responsible for assuring compliance to all regulatory requirements – FDA, OSHA, OFCCP, EPA, etc.
Perform reviews, recommend and implement corrective actions for any exception condition.
Lead and direct cross-functional process improvement projects.
Understand and resolve technical difficulties, interface with internal technical experts and external technical representatives.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout each facility through the use of lean manufacturing and/or 5S methodologies.

Desired Skills and Experience
Ability to plan and manage operational activities through direct reports who exercise full responsibility in terms of cost, methods and people management.
Experience working in an emerging company with cross-functional project groups is preferred.
Can resolve complex problems where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
10+ years experience in manufacturing management, in a process-oriented operation.
Experience in the electronics recycling or related industry required.
Six Sigma certification required; demonstrated experience implementing and driving lean manufacturing principles and programs in other roles.
Ability to lead and manage others through influence and collaboration across multiple teams and locations.
Demonstrated proficiency in team building and motivation, conflict resolution and group dynamics as well as solid project management skills.
