Director - Platform Engineering - GoerTek - San Francisco

Job description
This position’s responsibilities will center on the strategic definition and development of future Wearable, Smart home and accessory products hardware architectures, platforms, sub-systems, S/W and components. This position will influence with multiple hardware groups, including R&D, Hardware Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, and S/W Engineering.
As Director of Platform Engineering, you are a technical leader with successful time management and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
Lead the definition and development of all advanced hardware for GoerTek’s Wearable, Smart home accessory products, including managing the hardware technology roadmap
Work with Product Marketing and R&D team members to define and develop all advanced hardware platforms
Identify and manage relationships of technology and component partners
Own hardware technology roadmap
Direct hardware architects and architecture

Coordinate accessory products architectures and development efforts
Evaluate and direct the de-risk of all critical new hardware technologies
Lead the exploration and vetting of all new hardware opportunities
Work with technology partners to review new technologies (audio, video, wireless sensors and related algorithm) and evaluate their readiness for production
Survey new technologies and identify those important for future GoerTek’s Wearable, Smart home and accessory business goals.
Work with legal and R&D teams on new technology development contracts and negotiations
Work with operations teams to drive component pricing, delivery, etc.

Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements
M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or similar
10+ years’ experience in hardware systems development
Experience leading diverse teams in advanced audio/video hardware development
Solid knowledge in and experience with motion sensors, acoustic, power management, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, 4G, USB, HDMI, etc.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams
