Director - Medical Solutions - Benchmark Electronics - San Jose
Job description
The Director of Medical solutions will be responsible for developing and executing strategies for penetrating new medical customer accounts and aggressively identifying and qualifying new business opportunities to develop a strong sales pipeline of design engineering and manufacturing projects. The Director will build strong relationships with Medical OEM engineering and operations teams and position Benchmark as the preferred solutions provider of choice for outsourced design and manufacturing outsourced services.
Must be willing to live and work in San Jose area with the site location being our San Jose facility.
Desired Skills and Experience
Gain a thorough understanding of Benchmark’s current capabilities and future development activities to serve Medical OEMs.
Maintain a deep knowledge of current medical market trends, needs, competitors, regulatory, exchanges, intermediaries, etc. working closely with the Medical Market segment lead and internal marketing resources. Ensure that this domain knowledge is shared and reflected in the medical market plans, strategies and investments and is communicated across the organization as necessary.
Develop and support the corporate initiative with ideas and direction for creating brand awareness of Benchmark within targeted OEMs in the Medical market.
For targeted medical segments, develop new customer accounts and by building and expanding the appropriate partnerships and relationships across the various functional groups within the customer’s organization, with a strong emphasis on the technical community.
Gain a deep understanding of the customer’s technology and product road maps. Based on the customer’s needs through the Product Life Cycle, act as a focal point in delivering Benchmark’s solutions to customers including concept development, design support, manufacturing services, supply chain/logistics, aftermarket services support and reverse logistics.
Develop, deploy and execute customer specific, milestone based strategic engagement plans with identified investments and expected long term returns aligned with Benchmark financial targets.
Works closely with the Engineering and Operations teams to construct value-based pricing strategies that optimize returns for Benchmark
Analyze and understand customer business strategies, future product plans, expansions and outsourcing activities and align and position Benchmark to win mutually beneficial new business.
Define business priorities through a broad vision of market and technology needs, including initiating and managing business development activities that strengthen, expand and drive market penetration.
Identify potential new attractive medical market sub-segments for Benchmark in coordination with the Medical segment lead. Develop, present, and execute go-to-market strategies for penetrating these new accounts.
Work closely and coordinates with the other regional Directors of Medical Solutions
Bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering or related field with business development experience specifically with Medical Devices.
Strong passion and self-motivation to achieve aggressive business targets
Five years advanced experience in engineering, business development, marketing and sales and/or account management experience with a Medical Device OEM (Emphasis on Engineering)
Must have strong technical engineering and new product introduction ability and skills with Medical devices.
High degree of business and financial acumen as well as sound decision making.
Experience creating and presenting technical solutions to engineering and operations executives.
Strong understanding of commercial contracts and savvy negotiation skills.
Proven ability and track record of interfacing with and developing strong relationships with customers.
