Director - Marketing - Car-X Tire & Auto - Chicago
Job description
The Director of Marketing is responsible for the development, implementation and execution of the Car-X Tire and Auto Service Marketing programs. The Director of Marketing provides overall strategic direction for the Car-X Brand and provides leadership, direction and strategic guidance to the franchises to ensure the achievement of all corporate budget objectives.
Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director of Marketing coordinates plans and marketing activities with external agencies for creative development, website, CRM programs and retail advertising.
Primary Relationships
The position reports to the President & CEO and serves as a member of the senior management team.
This position participates with the franchise groups throughout the country and other corporate management staff in charting the direction of the Organization, assuring its accountability to all constituencies, and ensuring its effective operation.
The position coordinates activities with external agencies for Brand strategy, creative development, website initiatives, CRM programs and local store advertising.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the Car-X image and position within the marketplace and facilitate internal and external communications
- Ensure articulation of Organization's desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the Car-X organization, and assure communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external.
- Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all Car-X publications.
- Coordinate the appearance of all Car-X print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.
- Develop, coordinate and oversee programs, technical assistance and resource materials to assist Franchisees in the marketing, communications and positioning of their activities.
- Provide counsel to Franchisees on marketing, communications and public relations.
- Ensure that Car-X regularly conducts relevant market research and coordinate and oversee this activity. Monitor trends.
- Responsible for the achievement of marketing/communications/public relations, goals and financial objectives.
- Develop short- and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing/communications/ public relations program and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications
Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities.
Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills.
Experience developing and managing budgets, and hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel.
Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media.
Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
Strong oral and written communications skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Out-of-town, overnight travel is required.
Computer skills including MS Office.
Other:
Minimum of 10 years experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the franchise sector.
Bachelor degree required, Marketing degree and MBA preferred
