Urban Airship is the leading provider of messaging technology and usage data for smartphones, tablets, PCs and other connected devices. Our solutions simplify all aspects of notification/alert delivery and mobile campaign management across multiple platforms in a scalable and reliable way.
We support two billion installations of Urban Airship’s SDK, tens of thousands of public API requests per second, and ten billion push notifications per month. Internally we deploy systems requiring petabyte-scale storage and capable of handling hundreds of thousands of requests per second.

About You
You’re a highly driven engineering leader excited to own product development and sustaining engineering for our always-on, high-volume messaging platform. You’ll manage all of our engineering teams in San Francisco and Portland including our mobile, web, platform, core delivery, customer engineering, developer productivity, and application security teams.
You have a strong track record of leading both engineering managers and individual contributors in a fast paced, high growth environment. You help make everyone in engineering successful and fix issues that get in the way of success. You are passionate about and good at recruiting, management, internal communication, and delivery.

Core Responsibilities
Partner with the Product team to drive engineering execution against the product roadmap
Drive ongoing sustaining engineering to manage technical debt and ever increasing scaling challenges
Build, lead, and manage a high performing teams of engineers
Partner with the Operations team to provide 24/7 operations for our production SOA deployment
Effectively communicate to your team, peer organizations, executives, and customers
Drive continuous improvement through assessment and appropriate change

Desired Skills and Experience
Skills and Experience
Significant experience managing a multi-site engineering organization
Significant experience with delivery methodologies such as Waterfall, XP, Scrum, and Lean Software Development
Demonstrated track record of strong product delivery and sustaining engineering in a SaaS company
Excellent verbal and written skills and ability to communicate at the executive level required
