Director - Education Pioneers - Boston


Job description
Education Pioneers seeks a Director to lead its Boston area efforts to dramatically improve outcomes for Massachusetts's neediest students through outside-the-classroom leaders, managers, and analysts. The Greater Boston Director serves as the primary agent to both support local education organizations (Partners) in meeting their strategic talent needs and to lead a powerful and transformational experience for the local cohort of Fellows. In addition, the Greater Boston Director assists our regional Alumni in their career growth through strategic access to professional development and a robust nationwide network. Successful candidates will be entrepreneurial, highly motivated and goal-oriented, and will possess proven project management and relationship-building skills.

This Director role will require someone with a strong presence to serve as the “face” of Education Pioneers in Boston’s dynamic education sector. The ideal candidate is someone who has experience with and a natural excitement in scaling programs, as well as someone who can function as a “jack-of-all trades” while leading our growth efforts in the Greater Boston area. This is an exempt position, which reports to the Senior Vice President, Eastern Region and is located in Boston, MA.

Responsibilities
Development and External Relations
Collaborating with National Development Team and Senior Vice President, Eastern Region to develop and execute strategic resource development plans that ensure a long-term, sustainable mix of revenue from a range of sources
Cultivating and stewarding a range of relationships with stakeholders, including donors, elected officials, policy makers, media outlets, and key community leaders
Program Management and Expansion
Oversee Boston site strategy, operations, and management of local staff
Identify opportunity, develop growth plans, and lead the successful programmatic expansion of transformative Education Pioneers Fellowship programs in the Boston area
Develop partnerships with education organizations in Greater Boston to host Fellows across our Fellowship programs (Graduate School Fellowship, Analyst Fellowship), including school districts, charter schools, non-profits, foundations, and government agencies
Match organizations with Fellows and support them throughout the Fellowship programs
Support the implementation of all signature elements of the Boston Fellowship programs
Serve as a skilled coach, mentor and guide for Fellows providing direct and targeted support regarding their fellowship experience, ongoing professional development and long-term career planning
Maintain ongoing communication with Partners to ensure support and clarity throughout the fellowship period
Effectively monitor and evaluate the success of the Boston Fellowship Programs
Represent Education Pioneers at events in the broader community to build our brand and presence in the Greater Boston region
Partnership and Alumni Development
Develop a deep knowledge of Education Pioneers Alumni and Partner organizations (leverage existing Alumni data and gathering new data as needed)
Use Education Pioneers data to create targeted opportunities for Alumni to advance their careers and become impactful change agents in the education sector
Connect Alumni to each other, to open jobs, and to local education leaders, by driving them to our online platform, coordinating events and gatherings, providing one-on-one career counseling, and offering other relevant supports
Connect partner organizations with Alumni talent who are looking for full-time positions amongst the growing Alumni base in the Boston area
Develop a local Alumni Board which will create meaningful professional connections within the network and help to assess how to best support Boston Alumni in their career development
Engage in fundraising and development efforts for the Greater Boston region as needed

Recruitment and Selection
Develop strategy to support our regional ability to recruit, select, and place a diverse group of talented individuals into our Fellowship Programs
Support team in recruitment and select a diverse group of talented candidates into Education Pioneers’ Fellowship programs (Graduate Student Fellowship & Analyst Fellowship)
Represent Education Pioneers at local recruiting events and generate excitement for our program among prospective applicants
Conduct in-depth interviews with applicants to assess their candidacy for our program
Work closely with the Eastern Region team (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut & Boston) to make final decisions regarding admissions into the Graduate School Fellowship and Analyst Fellowship

Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications
5+ years of relevant professional experience including a mixture of sales, recruiting, teaching, coaching/mentoring, professional development, and program management; Graduate degree strongly preferred
A track record of successful fundraising with major donors, corporations, and foundations or directly transferrable experience
Extensive skills in relationship building with team members and external partners
Experience successfully managing a results based program in a fast-paced, goals-oriented, and data driven environment
Strong public speaking, networking, and presentation skills required
Proven leadership experience and track record of collaborating with senior management in creating a motivating vision which supports the organization’s cultural values and attributes
Strong knowledge of the current K-12 education reform landscape strongly preferred, significant education reform experience in the Boston area preferred
Demonstrated experience providing direct coaching, guidance, and professional development opportunities to staff
Ability to travel up to 10-15% of the time
