Director - Data Analytics - Avalere Health - Washington
Job description
Avalere Health is seeking a Director in our Data Analytics Practice to manage, design, and conduct quantitative analyses on a wide range of health care financing, delivery, quality, and coverage issues. Successful candidates will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a broad understanding of health services research and health policy. He or she should have specific analytic background in predictive modeling and have experience creating microsimulation models. The successful candidate will also have experience using multiple data sources including claims, encounter, administrative, and survey data. This position will report to the Vice President of Data Analytics.
The ideal candidate will have a record of inventive problem solving. The candidate must be able to conceptualize appropriate and creative analytic strategies for complex issues, design flexible and reuseable analytic tools and models, multi-task, translate work products into meaningful guidance for clients, develop and deliver presentations, and write effectively. The candidate must be capable of managing client relationships and leading and mentoring junior staff in a team-oriented environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Conceptualizing the scope of client projects, assembling a cross-functional team, and overseeing the team from project initiation through completion of client deliverables
Designing and conducting analyses that quantify the impact of policy and/or market changes on clients’ businesses utilizing various analytical methods and data sources
Both participating in and leading project teams in the production and presentation of deliverables for a diverse set of clients
Anticipating and creating flexible analytic tools and models for reuse with a diverse set of clients
Desired Skills and Experience
Education and Experience:
Advanced degree in economics, public policy, public health, public administration, business, or related fields
8 to 10 years of work experience
Preferably 5+ years of supervisory experience and/or experience leading project teams
Skills and Competencies:
Superior customer service in the form of first-rate work product and project management
Superior fluency in articulating Avalere’s value proposition, competencies, and major content areas
Strong ability to manage challenging client situations
Strong ability to translate complex information for a wide range of clients
Viewed as a knowledgeable and engaging content source by clients and other external constituents
Advanced knowledge of health care, health policy, and analytic modeling related issues
Other Job Related Requirements:
Demonstrated experience advising executive level stakeholders in health care, government, academia or a similar environment
Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively
Strong communication and presentation skills
Proficiency in SAS, STATA, Excel, and/or other software languages
Demonstrated experience analyzing health care claims, encounter, administrative, and or survey data
Demonstrated experience with predictive and microsimulation modeling
