Director - Content Strategy - wochit - New York

Job description
wochit is looking for an experienced Director of Content Strategy to join our team. The Director of Content Strategy will lead the creation and distribution of wochit’s owned and operated productions and will also provide editorial direction for creators using wochit's platform. This position will help define wochit's voice across all communication platforms. S/he will lead a talented team of video creators and work closely with internal stakeholders to drive growth in viewership and revenue.


The successful candidate will have a vision for how to evolve wochit's brand through Video content. S/he will be a skilled storyteller who can develop dynamic, informative, creative videos that also supports business needs. Successful candidates will have a track record of driving multimedia experiences in the digital space. S/he will be proficient at analyzing performance metrics and able to optimize content for set goals. Candidates must be adept at creating and managing processes and deadlines. Candidates must be successful as a manager and comfortable working with cross-functional teams. Passion and knowledge across multiple News categories. This position is located in our New York City offices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the editorial direction, content creation and distribution of over 400+ original videos produced everyday by a team of dozens of creators and growing.
Set the daily, weekly, and long term strategy for content creation.
Provide real-time and daily assignments for creators.
Drive innovation to enhance storytelling on site and social.
Further define our brand voice and tailor it to different audiences and platforms.
Lead the content strategy and content creation for syndication platforms and social, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and more....
Research top performing content
Implement and refine programming recommendations continuously
Drive growth in revenue from wochit O&O production across its distribution channels.
Offer key insights and guidance to internal stakeholders for helping wochit's partners succeed with video creation, distribution and monetization.

Desired Skills and Experience
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Passion for visually driven storytelling and the ability to create editorial that is both informative and engaging.
Passion for new technologies
Incredible organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel (or similar)
Knowledge of and interest in news in the digital space.
Ability to tailor content for different audiences
Ability to develop platform-specific content concepts.
Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to own/create new programs and processes
Ownership mentality with an ability to work independently
4+ years relevant work experience as an editor or content strategist for an online publication, preferably in news
Experience as video journalist or creator
Experience leading a team
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to learn new tools and processes quickly.
English speaking/Spanish speaking a plus
