Position Summary
The Creative Director’s role is to formulate design concepts and presentation approaches, provide vision and creatively grow a suite of digital products. The Creative Director will direct and manage a team of designers engaged in artwork, layout, and UI design for print and digital media. Additionally, they will lead the Graphics department and collaborate with other departments, printers, and vendors to ensure design and brand standards are upheld.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Review and approve print proofs
• Create original illustrations and other graphic elements
• Source existing photos, videos, and illustrations and edit as needed
• Define style and usage guidelines and ensure projects adhere to them
• Write and create spec sheets and assist sales with questions about creative sponsorship viability
• Create and animate graphics for video
• Create print materials
• Create architectures, wireframes, mockups and finished assets for apps and site products
• Create and upload graphics and code for html emails and mini sites
• Liaise and attend meetings with other departments to develop design solutions and determine project guidelines
• Manage graphics files on server and update permissions as needed
• Monitor, log, and coordinate projects and deadlines
• Interview printers/vendors
• Liaise with printers/vendor; guide marketing assistants with correct terminology when corresponding with printers/vendors
• Monitor and approve graphic work done outside the graphic department to ensure that it upholds brand standards; review design projects at various stages to ensure they are on track and follow project and brand guidelines
• Manage and lead graphic design staff
• Leads brainstorming and graphics concepts; advise on viability and cost effectiveness of options
• Oversee design projects and graphics creation
• Mentor designers; identify and assist with problems, and advise on best practices
• Assign projects to graphics staff and delegate responsibilities

Desired Skills and Experience
Education, Experience, Certification Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field
5+ years of experience as a designer and/or art director
5+ years of experience managing a team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proven creative management experience
Deep understanding of fundamental design discipline and principals
Ability to demonstrate command of typography, color, composition, and hierarchy
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to be concise.
Ability to develop design strategies quickly and accurately with great attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision; quick turn-arounds
Motivated, self-starter with the desire to work collaboratively
Experience working within an Agile environment
Advanced Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
Proficiency in HTML, Dreamweaver and CSS
Publishing experience via FTP clients
Experience creating and editing presentations in PowerPoint, Flash files or similar programs
