Senior Director - Public Relations - Rovi Corporation - Cambridge

Rovi Corporation is focused on revolutionizing the digital home entertainment landscape. Our technology solutions help consumers intuitively connect to new entertainment – from many sources and locations. Our mission is to lead the way people discover and personalize entertainment.
We are looking for a senior-level Public Relations professional to develop and execute an integrated PR program that will enhance corporate image and increase sales of our product portfolio that includes B2B offerings and cloud services, IP licensing, advertising solutions. Partnering with strategic and corporate communications extended teams (marketing, investor relations, internal communications), the Senior Director of Public Relations will support the organization’s business objectives in three key ways:
Drive corporate communications platform – Reframe the corporate communications program (executive, media, analyst relations) to build awareness for Rovi’s overall strategic direction and broad impact on digital entertainment discovery and monetization.
Reinforce Rovi’s leading position in established markets – Define and execute a range of innovative PR programs and activities to re-establish Rovi’s leadership position in entertainment data “metadata” and guides, and work to change the market’s perception of these solutions from commoditized products to meaningful and essential elements of the entertainment ecosystem.
Establish a thought-leadership position on key topics – StrengthenRovi’s thought-leadership position on key topics that matter to our customers (e.g., Predictive Analytics, Service Provider Churn, Entertainment Personalization)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead high-performing in-house and agency team focused on creation and execution of a global public relations strategy that engages technology influencers to highlight Rovi innovation and value to customers and partners
Become a key and trusted partner to Rovi’s business groups and their leadership teams, by providing communications leadership, counsel and flawless execution
Manage media/analyst relations, including content development, road shows, briefings and spokesperson duties
Maximize exposure for Rovi through targeted, measurable PR programs around the company’s business and technology initiatives
Oversee global product and solution launch strategy and execution with accountability to measurable objectives, including alignment to business priorities and company campaigns
Develop and execute strategies for corporate communication and reputation management for diverse global audiences, including crisis and M&A/divestitures
Understand industry, organization and functional stakeholder perceptions and communication needs
Foster creation and publication of content to the company’s corporate portal and social networking sites
Support the planning and execution of speaking and social media programs, major tradeshows and administrative tasks including budget, supplier management and calendars
Drive efforts to bring Rovi’s core values to life and identify and prioritize communication opportunities
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
The Senior Director, Public Relations will have at least 7 years of experience in technology public relations / corporate communications or related experience and have strong media / influencer relationships. Deep public relations experience within the entertainment technology industry an advantage. He/she should also be:
Able to drive marketing and communications campaigns from concept to completion and measurement
Relationship-oriented – an energetic, resourceful individual who thrives in an action-/results-oriented, environment and who has cultivated external relationships with the media
A strong writer – executive messages (capturing unique tone and voice); tough topics (ability to unravel complexity and synthesize information)
An excellent communicator in both verbal and written forms
Comfortable working in a publicly-traded, corporate environment
Able to support senior executives with confidence and effectiveness
Adept at influencing – able to quickly build credibility and gain a seat at the table with key stakeholders and peers
Able to meet deadlines and establish clear priorities quickly – works effectively under pressure and with minimal direction
An excellent manager and mentor – experience hiring, managing and inspiring a marketing/communications team and/or external agencies
Skilled at using a broad mix of communication methods (including social media), delivery mechanisms and channels with the ability to build innovative, cutting edge strategies and tactical solutions
Proficient at applying project management processes, techniques and tools to ensure that plans, budgets and timelines are achieved
Able to use judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential topics

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or Communications required; Master’s degree preferred.
TRAVEL:
Extensive travel 50% may be required to support major tradeshows and similar events or to meet with leaders in our global offices
