Job description
Production Management Director
The Production Management Director provides consultation services and recommendations to the PMG and development teams around project management best practices.
Responsibilities:
· Provide consultation services to PMG and Studios on best practice production management for each game
· Continually look for efficiencies in the development process and recommend process improvements
· Review schedules with PMG and identify risks, gaps, and mitigation approaches
· Teach and build production management capabilities and tools
· Serve as an “evangelist” of tools and approaches based on visibility to other studios and external / internal best practices (production teams and PMG)
· Develop standardized internal templates (e.g. “Greenlight” or Franchise Planning) to ensure consistency of production management reporting and messaging at key milestone meetings
· Aggregate templates to help determine the best information for PMG and Development to keep all studios informed (knowledge network)
· Provide release management best practices, tools, checklists and project close-out tracking; work with PMG to monitor projects against established timelines
· Be a subject matter expert on project management methodologies and tools, both current and emerging (e.g. waterfall, agile, JIRA) and provide recommendations to developers and PMG on best tools or methodologies to suit current project
· Develop recommended general plans and timetables that can be used as a foundation for production management plans
· Lead best practices process for post mortems across the enterprise
· Liaise with cross-functional departments as appropriate and build good working relationships
· Provide project tracking and reporting as needed
· Work on special projects as needed; may include leading efforts to solve cross-franchise resourcing problems among others
Requirements:
· Subject matter expertise in current PM tools and methodologies including but not limited to Scrum, Agile, Jira, Hansoft, MS Project, MS Project Server, ProjectLibre, OpenProject
· 10+ years experience as project manager working in software development
· Experience shipping multiple titles while working at a game studio as project manager or director of development (or similar experience in publishing)
· Demonstrates strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
· Experience evaluating current processes & creating, implementing and driving new processes across diverse groups
· Ability to self-manage and self-pace
· Ability to adapt to changing situations and development team cultures
· PMP certified a plus
