Reporting to the Chief Information Officer the successful candidate will work in Loveland, Colorado or Calgary, Alberta. This position is responsible for the global management of the company’s IT Security, Risk and Compliance matters across all Strategic Business Units. This is a strategic role serving constituents across the Agrium community. The position is a key member of the IT leadership team providing both strategic input with respect to the current and future direction of the function, and day-to-day operational oversight and leadership.

Responsibilities:
Establishes and maintains Agrium’s enterprise-wide IT security, risk and compliance policies.
Ensures policies are implemented and adhered to at both the enterprise and strategic business unit (SBU) levels.
Defines and implements an ongoing risk assessment program, which will define, identify, and classify critical assets and operational procedures, assess threats and vulnerabilities regarding those assets and procedures, and implement safeguard recommendations.
Responsible for the creation and implementation of company-wide information security programs, risk management frameworks, information security policies, security education and training, and compliance with company security policies and applicable regulations.
Leads various enterprise IT security, risk, and compliance program initiatives as required to support enterprise-wide and SBU level strategic goals.
Ensures that corporate and regulatory security, risk and compliance system standards are met and that adequate and cost effective controls and technical processes are in place.
Provides advisory support on the evaluation of IT risks, development of risk responses, and works with stakeholders to agree on actions required to implement process enhancements.
Serves as the primary liaison with internal and external auditors – managing and measuring performance of IT against audit findings. Addresses gaps identified in audit findings.
Works with teams to ensure that key technology risks have been addressed prior to deploying new, or significantly modified, systems into production.
Establishes the development and reporting of enterprise and SBU level key performance indicators (KPIs) for IT security, risk and compliance related matters.
Works across IT teams and functional delivery teams to mitigate and communicate risks and ensure appropriate mitigation plans are in place. Acts as central communications hub when mitigating serious security, risk and compliance issues.
Identifies and assesses emerging IT risks, and comparison of the firm’s IT risk capabilities to industry standards.
Ensures successful delivery and maintenance of IT security, risk and compliance training to the organization while also maintaining and enhancing the library of enterprise IT risk guidance, supporting tools and materials.
Remains current on industry best practices and the latest IT security, risk, regulatory and compliance trends to support ‘compare and contrast’ analyses across various risk models and Agrium practices.

Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business or other relevant field.
At least 15 years of related IT and/or direct IT security, risk and compliance work experience with a minimum of 10 years of successful leadership experience.
Demonstrated leadership skills with evidence of coaching and developing the leaders within their own team to higher levels.
Prior experience in a shared services model would be an asset.
Proven ability to support a large, complex operating environment as defined by geographically dispersed locations, distinct business units and cultures, large employee base and high transaction volumes.
Ability to clearly communicate security, risk and compliance strategy, plans and issues across the organization.
Strong analytical and interpretive skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues, policies, regulatory requirements and industry information affecting client’s environment.
Experience managing within a matrix structure and dealing with ambiguity through effective influence and collaboration at multiple levels in the organization.
Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
Proven organizational agility and ability to work at all levels including the executive and “C” levels, across direct and indirect reporting lines as well as managing global multi-cultural virtual teams across distinct business units and locations.
Strong analytical and interpretive skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues, policies, regulatory requirements and industry information affecting client’s environment.
Demonstrated initiative and solution orientation, with a track record of putting ideas forward and presenting them upward with proven history of leading to ultimate successful execution. Experience managing within a matrix structure and dealing with ambiguity.
Ability to estimate financial impact of technical infrastructure alternatives. Knowledge of financial models and budgeting.
ITIL certified or at least 5 years of utilizing ITIL within organizations.
