Director - Consumer Risk - Hyundai Capital America - Irvine


Job description
General Summary
Leads team responsible for managing consumer credit and residual risks, monitoring portfolio performance through standard and ad/hoc portfolio analysis/reporting, throughout the customer life cycle, and improve operational portfolio performance through implementation of new applicant and behavioral scoring models, benchmark process flow studies, competitor analysis, forecasting, audit and communication/training. This position will provide thought leadership for each of these functional areas, demonstrate strong technical and leadership skills, display a strong business acumen and an ability to influence senior-level peers. This position requires interaction across multiple business partners to aid in determining key priorities and project direction for their team.

Duties and Responsibilities
1.Direct analysis and forecasting of HCA's current and potential risks related to the loan portfolio, including trend, credit quality, concentration and delinquency analyses.

*Proactively identify risks to the portfolio and work with Field and HQ associates to mitigate these risks. Identify and recommend strategies that balance risk with profitability to grow the portfolio.

*Coordinate credit loss forecasting process as well as develop and manage future portfolio composition strategies and portfolio behavior under diverse economic conditions.

*Direct effort for forecasting used vehicle values for new lease and used lease originations, and used values matching the composition of retail loan portfolio.

2.Direct organization to manage the entire life-cycle of collection strategies: design, development, implementation, tracking, adjustments and redevelopment. Manage partnerships with Operations to deliver risk based underwriting and collection strategies.

3.Develop new and innovative reporting that delivers improved insight to support strategic and tactical decision process. Propose, design and/or enhance statistical analysis and ad/hoc reporting of the portfolio risk and performance to strengthen the format and content delivery. Ensure at all times the tools are accurate, efficient and high quality. Perform segmentation around customer retention strategies. Regularly seek feedback from key stakeholders to ensure the ongoing delivery of value-add analytics and reporting. Develop standard risk reports and communicate to Credit Risk Committee on a monthly basis.

4.Validate and refine existing models as well as the development of new models by identifying appropriate internal, external data sources and gather them in a centralized and easily accessible fashion.

5.Risk Management data development, acquisition and data cube management; EDW, Credit Bureau, Third party data (Auction net, Black Book, etc.).

6.Act as a Lead on cross-functional project teams including outside vendors, based on priorities, scope, timelines, and resources.

7.Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

*Strong written and oral communications skills required.

*An understanding of statistics. Demonstrated ability in quantitative analysis and a good working knowledge of lending, collections, and credit risk.

*Strong PC skills; SQL, Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, Brio, and Relational Database concepts. KnowledgeStudio a plus.

*Prior scorecard and statistical model development experience is a plus.

*The ability to understand business objectives and their relationship to the importance of individual projects.

*The ability to comprehend instructions, create documentation on reporting and explain complex systems and data succinctly.

Education and Experience

*Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Management Science or related experience.

*Master's degree preferred.

*10+ years of risk analytics experience in the consumer financial services industry.

Physical Requirements and Working Condition

Employees in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is performed in an office environment.
