Astellas is announcing an Associate Business Performance Management Director in Northbrook, IL.

Purpose & Scope

This position will be responsible for collaborating with Business Performance Management (BPM) and Global Planning and Administration (GPA) leaders along with other stakeholders within GMD to identify, develop and implement appropriate business management process modifications to facilitate alignment of related activities across GMD organizations (i.e., GD, GMA, GPV, GRA, GCRQA) and support organizational efficiency. This individual will lead cross-functional teams to evaluate current practices across GMD for selected business management processes, prepare and present process change proposals to responsible GMD stakeholders and drive the implementation of agreed-upon changes. The position will also provide project management support for the preparation of periodic organizational progress reports and other BPM initiatives in support of organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Key responsibililties under the direction of the Sr. Director, BPM, include the following:

GMD business management operational efficiency initiatives:

Participate in the identification of potential business management practices within GMD that may require or benefit from harmonization, increased efficiency and/or definition.
Collaborate with responsible operational groups/stakeholders within the various GMD organizations, leading cross-functional teams to evaluate assigned processes, assessing current practices, identifying differences and redundancies between groups and preparing recommendations for process changes to enhance organizational efficiency and promote harmonization across GMD. Present and obtain approval from appropriate stakeholders/management for implementation of recommended changes.
Ensure effective implementation and training for agreed-upon process changes by responsible groups, monitoring progress and providing regular status reports to management.
Monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes over time and identify the need for any further modifications.

GMD strategies, plans and reporting:

Coordinate the preparation and tracking of the strategic components of Astellas' annual and midterm plans in collaboration with GMD global heads, TAHs, core team members, and APGD-JP P&A to assure appropriate oversight and accountability towards achievement of GMD's strategic responsibilities.

Implement and maintain GPA systems and processes to ensure the accurate and timely generation of periodic management reports, collecting critical information and preparing and disseminating reports according to schedule.

Resource Management:

Prepare headcount forecast updates in support of annual and mid-term planning, collaborating with Global Budget and Control (GBC) and other stakeholders to define processes, timelines, communications, data and reporting requirements.
Develop, implement and maintain procedures to track resources in collaboration with responsible groups, facilitating allocation/re-allocation processes to support organization workload demands.

BPM Support:

Participate in the planning and execution of formal internal and external management meetings
Provide support as needed to GPA and BPM mangement to address GMD issues and initiatives.

Organizational Context:

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Business Process Management, Global Planning and Administration

Required
Bachelor degree in business or science with 7+ years experience in Pharma, R&D or Post Market Pharma support, working with key business management processes and best practices.

* 2+ years experience in the management of pharmaceutical development projects or pharmaceutical related projects

Proven ability to support diverse teams within a highly matrixed, multi-cultural global environment.
Strong people skills to motivate people, build skills, communicate effectively, manage performance, and drive change.
Strong project management skills to guide others in budget/cost estimations, resourcing as well as planning and execution of initiatives.
Business/commercially-focused and results/-oriented.
Strong written and oral communications skills.
Consultative and client-oriented.
Strategic orientation; creative problem solver; collaborative nature; process/detail-oriented.

Preferred
Experience in the deployment of enterprise applications on a global basis a plus.
Experience in process mapping and automation of manual processes.
Experience in both pre- and post-marketing project/business management
