Job description
The Senior Manager/Director of Analytics will be responsible for building and leading several teams with the goal of creating an excellent customer experience. You will be expected to operate in both a strategic and tactical capacity, with high organizational visibility. You will be responsible for developing ideas that guide product and market strategies.
Your teams will help define product vision, analyze consumer needs, and make data-driven decisions. By harnessing the power of big data, a/b testing, statistics, and algorithms you will create analytic tools that fulfill key business needs, and help thousands of people across the world.
Your teams will tackle some big challenges and questions, such as:
How do we select the best expert to answer a customer’s question?
How do we set pricing so that experts will answer questions that have variable complexity?
How can we optimize pricing based on location?
How do we segment our customers in real time so that we can address NPS promoters and detractors with targeted experiences?
What additional information do we need from a customer before we can adequately meet their needs?
How do we optimize our funnels to maximize revenue?
How engaged are our customers with different features and products on the site?
Key Responsibilities:
Create the strategic vision and a framework that supports the development of algorithms that help the customers and professionals connect quickly and accurately.
Build, lead and provide direction to analytics and data science teams in setting the research agenda, determining priorities based on the product roadmap, evaluating research projects and exploring new methodologies.
Manage and optimize all ecommerce-related analytics (revenue, transactions, traffic, conversion, entry points, sales funnel, etc.). Analyze data to identify optimization and conversion opportunities.
Evaluate the company’s ecommerce practices and available data to formulate testing recommendations (a/b, multivariate), content changes and other improvements that affect the customer experience. Measure the impact of all testing and changes.
Work with product and engineering groups to make sure that all information is tracked accurately and completely, with a focus on data quality.
Be responsible for the day to day delivery of internal analytics products and analyses that help the organization assure that we are making the best informed decisions possible.
Oversee pricing and price optimization.
Desired Skills and Experience
Competencies Required:
5+ years of commercial experience analyzing search relevance data and developing personalization systems, algorithm development, data mining, NLP, information retrieval, and machine learning solutions to solve the web’s biggest problems.
4+ years working with web analytics, including a good understanding of tools and processes to collect and report on all aspects of web analytics.
Proven ability to balance probability and statistical theory with pragmatic problem solving skills, and a track record of developing advanced predictive algorithms and behavior models which solve real world data problems
Understanding of algorithm development as a solution to business needs and processes.
A demonstrated high level of analytical rigor and the ability to sift through significant amounts of information to isolate the essence of effective solutions which are meaningful to the product vision and strategies.
Hands on experience with statistical analysis, visualization, data mining tools such as R, Python or Perl scripting, SQL query writing and working with large databases.
People management; ability to set and negotiate priorities; Adept at seeing and navigating the big picture; budget management.
Advanced degrees in statistics, applied math, machine learning, computer science or related disciplines.
