Director - Advanced Analytics and Data Science - Avvo - Seattle

Job description
Avvo is looking for a creative and innovative mind to lead the Advanced Analytics team which will focus on strategic data analysis ideas that will propel the future growth of Avvo. Your team will work closely with divisions across the company to discover trends and valuable insights through various data analytic projects ranging from evaluating marketing and product performance, personalization, pricing, and business optimization.

Core Responsibilities:
Provide analytical thought leadership and cultivate a data driven culture across the company
Standardize analytical methodologies and measures to evaluate marketing and product performance and experiments
Build data requirement for data engineering team to facilitate growth of analytics ecosystem
Drive analytical projects that stretch across multiple divisions and required input from many stake holders
Deliver insights and strategic recommendations to executive team

Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Computational Science, Statistics, or related field
8+ years professional experience in data analysis, data engineering, or relevant role
2+ years of management experience leading team of data analyst/scientist
Experience in internet advertising business, e-commerce, or a related field
Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative and machine learning approaches
Expert knowledge of an analysis tool such as R, MATLAB or SAS
Proficient working with distributed computing tools (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.)
Exceptional verbal and visual communication skills to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
Strong client-orientation for working with internal customers
