Job description

Role Summary:
The Team is looking for a VP / Director to work closely with Coverage Bankers and key stakeholders in a “one team” approach to clients, aligning objectives and resources as necessary; identifying transactions within the strategic scope of the business and supporting the Bank’s strategy. The target market is Fortune 500 clients in the Consumer, Retail, Leisure, Healthcare, & Chemicals space, focusing on opportunities for RBS to leverage its Global Franchise.
Client Management (CM) is a prominent partner in the delivery of International Banking (“IB”) to our chosen clients, shaping, managing and enhancing sustainable risk adjusted returns, to achieve the strategic goals of C&IB and the RBS Group.
CM is accountable for the management of capital on a counterparty basis, to fit with overall sector / team portfolio objectives in effective decision making in terms of appropriate use of capital based on risk weighted returns.
CM also coordinates all supporting activities to deliver deal execution success meeting both internal and client deadlines as well as overseeing the documentation process and ensuring all relevant parties are engaged in deal closure (liaison with other product areas and legal, as necessary).

Role Responsibilities:
Support Coverage and Banking Head to successfully evaluate and articulate profitable opportunities and relationships in line with RBS strategy and return metrics
Establish strong relationships with key internal (such as our colleagues in Product , Risk, Central Portfolio Management, Operations and legal areas) as well as external stakeholders (e.g. clients, Rating Agencies, other Banks) to ensure seamless client service and deal execution for clients.
Develop continual knowledge of clients/sectors to support capital and credit deployment decisions
In conjunction with Coverage Banker, be the internal focal point for the Client Team, fully understanding Bank strategy towards the client.
Take credit stewardship responsibility for client portfolio ensuring key stakeholders are aware of any material changes to client risk and business profile, evaluate and support key transaction terms and conditions and present requests to senior credit managers when required, provide business signoff for credit requests, assist with minimizing provisions/losses through proactive risk management.
Act as a “commercial challenger” to Credit Risk in the assessment/assignment of credit ratings and risk appetite during the Annual Review process.
Ensure that the deals / documentation are appropriately captured in internal systems and relationship exposures are accurately reviewed / reflected in the systems on a regular basis.
Take action to improve risk adjusted returns for assigned portfolio.
Contribute to execution of portfolio management agenda including active RWA management and awareness and communication of broader CM objectives (eg. Implementing capital allocation models, analyzing portfolio performance from RWA and return perpsective).
Provide leadership / guidance to junior staff, train and develop junior staff and mentor new hires

Desired Skills and Experience
Role Qualifications:
5 years experience within a leading international bank within some/all of the following business areas:Portfolio management, Loan structuring, Client coverage/interaction, Credit risk
Product experience including corporate lending, capital markets, structured credit, leveraged finance
Solid financial, credit and capital structure analysis skills
Understanding of loan underwriting and distribution model
Ability to take initiative and function independently, balanced by strong team and mentoring/training skills (junior staff)
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in business, finance or accounting
High level qualification (eg. CFA)
Series 7 or 79 and 63
