Communications Director - PepsiCo - Purchase, New York


Job description

Reporting to the Senior Director, Digital Communications, this position sets direction for and leads a team responsible for execution of PepsiCo's external digital publishing strategy across all channels and touchpoints (e.g. PepsiCo.com Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other owned or partner channels). As "Editor-in-Chief", this person will select key themes that digital content and experiences will address, and sequence these themes against an editorial calendar to tell an overall cohesive story in digital throughout the year. He or she will also develop and supervise development of content that is on strategy in terms of key messages and is relevant for intended target audiences.

This position will be specifically accountable to:
Develop editorial themes, calendars and key messaging for external digital content
Develop original written content and supervise development of content by direct reports, indirect employees or third-party organizations
In partnership with Director, Mission Control, develop ongoing understanding of key audiences to make content highly relevant and optimize as new learning about these audiences emerge
Prescribes optimal digital tactic(s) and plans in a given situation to effectively convey key messages to a desired audience
Develop workflow practices for digital content including identification of contributors and approvers of content
Consult on publishing partnership opportunities
Consult on responsive mission control messaging opportunities

Qualifications:
More than 10 years of experience in Corporate Communications environment, developing and editing content
Must have knowledge of, experience in, and track record of success with winning web, social and mobile content initiatives.
Minimum 5 years interactive and digital web experience; diverse digital channel experience.
Experience working with global teams.
Knowledge of cutting edge technology and communication platforms.
Proven results working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Experience managing and leading a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and organizational skills.
Able to thrive and lead in a "non-traditional," entrepreneurial environment.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and multi-task.
Ability to quickly ramp up, evaluate a situation, form an action plan and rally the team.
Creative problem solving and a "can do" attitude are a must.
Must be able to meet real-time deadlines, set project budgets, and control project quality.
In-depth knowledge of and passion for all forms of media.
Must be willing and able to travel 15% of the time
