PURPOSE OF JOB
The Strategic Relationship Manager serves as a business platform manager for external broker-dealers, retirement platforms, and banks. This position will initiate new 3rd party business opportunities for USAA's Investment Company by developing relationships, executing business plans, measuring/monitoring success, while maintaining the highest standards of client experience. A key objective is to bring a high degree of investment acumen to increase shelf-space on platforms and recommended lists; drive business development and support services for the assigned accounts, and anticipate/resolve more complex problems. This position is not location specific and is a remote opportunity. The amount of travel is based on business needs and will be significant.

JOB DUTIES
Focuses on selling USAA mutual funds to B/D and Wealth Management platforms including certain regional, independent, banks, retirement plans, large RIA, and sub-advisory opportunities.
Has full relationship responsibility for developing new business, asset retention, increasing flows, expanding product offerings with existing relationships, and managing client satisfaction.
Responsible for representing USAA funds to manager research groups, presenting funds for focus list consideration, and cultivating sub-advised, bundled and asset allocation opportunities. A key component will include presenting USAA's investment capabilities, investment theory and performance to platform sales force and their clients.
Build and strengthen relationships through contact frequency including face-to face, phone, and electronic contact with decision makers and points of influence at firms to increase our presence and levels. This includes research analysts, product management and other centers of influence. The incumbent must be able to meet the demands of diverse and sophisticated clients who require extensive support, often under significant time pressures.
Participates with senior leadership on the execution of key decisions and development of USAA's new and rapidly growing 3rd Party Distribution strategy. Understands the assigned accounts' requirements and develops programs to meet these requirements.
Provides the highest quality services by coordinating the resolution of problems and providing the requested communications.

Desired Skills and Experience
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
7+ years of relationship management experience, managing and implementing large and complex initiatives, and analytical & business planning experience in retail broker-dealers, platforms, and bank trusts.
Solid knowledge of the US mutual fund and retirement industries.
Extensive investment knowledge of investment management in all asset classes, including Equities, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and Alternative Investment Vehicles.
Extensive experience in the areas of client service or relationship management within a financial services organization. Ability to deal with multiple contacts within the client's organization, which will include different divisions with varying needs and competing requests.
Strong consultative sales abilities with respect to building relationships and raising assets. Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit with high energy and passion; is a self-starter. Capability to engage with an intermediary research analyst team and effectively represent USAA investment management.
Leadership and communication is critical to establish and maintain productive working relationships and critical internal and external partners.
Ability to execute strategy and bodies of work, influence others, bridge differences and build consensus towards a common goal within a highly matrixed team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Series 7, 63.

Preferred
CFA designation.
CIMA.
Master's degree (MBA, Economics, Finance).
Successful completion of military service.
