Job Overview
The Director of Software Development, Traveler Services is responsible for the back-end, web, and mobile app development teams for TripIt and ExpenseIt in San Francisco, CA and Bellevue, WA (collectively known as Product Engineering). The person in this role will leverage his/her strong technical background to challenge and grow the technical staff. This position defines and improves development processes, is highly collaborative with other Traveler Services teams including but not limited to Software Architecture, Product, User Experience, Marketing, and Advertising. This position works in conjunction with the Director of Development, Prague to ensure consistency across development teams. This is a Director level position with Managers as direct reports. This position reports directly to the VP, R&D in San Francisco.

Responsibilities:
Drives product delivery through Agile development methodologies.
Ensures consistent technical development progress on multiple projects in a matter consistent with strategic goals and priorities.
Enables and encourages the organization to react quickly to changing business needs.
Establishes metrics to manage efficiency, quality, customer satisfaction, and cost.
Collaborates with Architects and Project Management to define high-level scope, architecture, and technical strategy for product development.
Establishes procedural standards for the development process that ensures high quality and customer satisfaction with our products.
Motivates a staff of skilled engineers and managers to do their best work.
Surfaces and solves challenges through continuous improvement efforts.
Selects, trains, and develops team members.
Identifies opportunities for training and professional development of staff.
Conducts performance appraisals in accordance with corporate guidelines.
Creates and manages the Development budget to meet division objectives.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Other duties may be assigned.
Is aware of, and complies with, all corporate policies.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:
BS or BA in Computer Science or relevant field.
3+ years of managing a large Development organization for design, development and testing of high-end software products.
Experience managing in an Agile development environment.
Previous experience managing multiple resources and projects required.
10+ years prior software development experience with a variety of programming languages.
Experience managing or creating native mobile applications and internet technologies preferred.
Ability to pass a background check.
