Director - Research and Insights - Media Storm - New York
Job Summary:
To assist in the development and maintenance of strong and lasting agency/client relationships through the effective use of research to aid the client’s marketing objectives. Assist in developing a strong Media Storm research offering and deploying that offering to Media Storm staff.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Strategic Capabilities:
Assures quality of research projects and interpretations for Media Storm clients
Oversee data and systems needs for Media Storm offices, interfacing with vendors, IT and others as needed
Participate in industry forums to keep the Media Storm employees up to date on research problems, techniques, and methods, as well as to provide industry visibility
Contribute to Media Storm research offering through participation in agency research initiatives and developing ideas for additional agency research efforts
Keeps abreast of current marketing and entertainment trends, particularly within those categories in which there is a client or prospective interest
Conducts media research on behalf of clients in consultation with the Managing Directors
Develops market and other background information and assists in its integration into new business presentations
Provides timely and accurate responses to requests for information with an emphasis on proactively issuing points-of-view and other topical papers
Supervisory:
Oversee the development of an agency research intranet for successful sharing of relevant and topical research information
Oversee staff of analysts to support Media Storm research initiatives
Desired Skills and Experience
7 + years of media / agency experience required with 5+ years of supervisory experience
In-depth understanding of media research resources and capabilities
Solid understanding of media planning, strategy, negotiation, implementation and performance analysis
Knowledge of local, national and emerging media trends
Computer skills required: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Experience with Telmar or IMS systems, competitive spending systems, and Nielsen local and national ratings tools, required
Excellent communication, presentation, time management and problem solving skills
Ability to mentor junior staff and to train them in preparing, evaluating and implementing research solutions that deliver valuable insights for clients
