Director - Procurement - Eaton - Eden Prairie
Job Description
Eaton located in Eden Prairie, MN has an opening for a Supply Chain Director leading the PMC Procurement function for the Hydraulics Group. Responsibilities include the development, coordination and deployment of integrated materials management, procurement, supplier development, and program management activities as related to SCM. Procurement aspects include developing the commodity strategy, strategic sourcing, and risk management approach for the supply base. This includes support of both current product and new product development to ensure total lowest landed cost is achieved. Sustained material flow is critical, and as such developing and implementing a sustainable materials strategy, coordinating with the regional materials councils, is key.
Other responsibilities include:
• Plans and directs the activities of the PMC Procurement function for the Hydraulics Group. As Hydraulics is a matrixed organization, the SCM function owns the sourcing strategy development, including price negotiations, with input from the regions. The regions own strategy implementation with input from the global function.
• Develops a global sourcing strategy with specific focus on highly utilized commodities within the Group by partnering with business leaders and regions.
• Develops strategic partnerships with outside sources to create value for the organization and maintains a high degree of flexibility.
• Ensures SCM organizational capability. Insures adequate back-ups are in place for critical positions and developmental programs are in place to build the appropriate skills.
• Enables the Group’s capital reduction strategies by securing outside sources to deliver components within cost targets, working with Sector resources.
• Coordinates with operational leaders to ensure supplier performance is within Group, Divisional and Plant guidelines
• Analyzes and evaluates financial, business and/or operational undertakings for the Group. Develops SCM financial measurements, targets, and key performance metrics to drive business performance.
• Leads supplier negotiations to insure component costs are within operating targets
• Coordinates with WHQ-SCM to support strategic sourcing objectives
• Leverages the group strategic, annual and monthly operating plans to determine appropriate objectives, performance expectations and objectives for the regional supply chain teams in support of regional operations objectives. Regional SCM report directly into regional presidents with dotted line to function.
• Works with supplier development leadership to develop and deploy key supplier quality strategies and approaches for raw material quality improvement
• Works with regional SCM leads to evaluate current and future state of Supply Chain model and incorporates best practices for improved performance and enhanced organizational capability.
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)
Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the supply chain function
• Minimum 4 years of people management experience
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
Preferred Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering + MBA or Master’s degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain
• Experience working in a Global business environment
• Experience with lean process engineering and process modeling
Position Criteria:
• Advanced understanding of SIOP driven Materials Management including forecasting, scheduling, capacity analysis and inventory management.
• Advanced understanding of Purchasing strategies and tactics for strategic sourcing and commodity management
• Expertise in driving business process improvement initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to lead a global cross-functional team in the development and implementation of initiatives in a highly diverse and matrixed environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Must be able to take a leadership role in driving change in the organization.
• Creative thinker and have a vision of how to drive the organization to the next level.
• Demonstrated ability in the area of strategic process creation and implementation
• Ability to manage multiple tasks globally
• Ability to identify and implement emerging supply management tools.
• Strong motivation and mentoring skills
