Director, Merchandising – Dockers
Position Overview: The purpose of this role is to develop a globally consistent, market leading global brand strategy, positioning and product line architecture that is commercially viable and meets the country brief requirements.
Responsibilities:
Represent the voice of the customer and ensures it is integrated into the product offering
Lead and develop a compelling and consistent global line for a specific segment
Interpret and incorporate local brief requirements in developing a global lineplan
Deliver product right to the market with the flexibility to be responsive and appropriately address local market needs
Identify global product opportunities; including the delivery of quick response products
Thoughtfully manages risk to take advantage on market opportunities
Deliver an optimized assortment that brings the best of the brand to life by market
Interpret and apply consumer insights both at the global and local levels
Manage consumer-focused line segmentation
Create a team that is culturally connected, driven to win and innovative with a relentless focus on the consumer and competition
Lead a team of Merchants at multiple levels
Manage global lineplan and metrics allocating product codes to Local Teams
Develop a segment of the global product offering for retail and wholesale (that is linked to floorspace management)
Implements product strategies in partnership with Product Development and Sourcing that improve the customer experience and efficiency
Establish relevant metrics per 4P for the season; Align and reconciles local and global financials with AP
Engage and educate affiliates to ensure understanding of merchandising vision and develop insights into the local markets
Desired Skills and Experience
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree of (10+ years of combined college education and experience may be substituted for a degree)
Minimum 7 years of progressive merchandising experience with an apparel manufacturer, retailer or marketer
Additional Qualifications
Global experience is highly preferred
Highly attuned to global merchandising and design trends in the global marketplace
Understand nuances both global and local consumer behavior and competitive pressures
Communicate a clear merchandising point of view and direction
Quick fact and intuition-informed decision making
Drive innovation and collaboration within and across multiple geographies and functions
Recognized as cross-category expert
Strong planning and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills – requires the ability to articulate a vision and use influencing and negotiation skills with cross-functional teams
Lead and develop a high performing team
