Director - Global Benefits, Policy & Administration - Avaya - Santa Clara
Job description
The Director Global Benefits is responsible for the design, development, compliance, communication and administration of all employee benefit plans including but not limited to medical, dental, life and disability insurance, defined contribution and defined benefit pension plans, the Company’s wellness programs and International pooling arrangements.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Benefits
Administration
Oversee the retirement/pension plans, US 401 (k) plans, benefit programs, including medical, wellness, dental, life and disability insurance, flexible spending
Monitor health and welfare benefit plans to assure that they are meeting quality, cost and employee satisfaction objectives
Oversee the development of written communications, enrollment materials and presentations associated with the benefit programs.
Oversee the Health and Welfare, US 401(k) and pension plan annual audits
Assist and/or manage ERISA and IRS compliance programs and reports
Support the develop, implementation, and management of wellness programs to support overall long term care strategy
Oversee global enrollment and benefits eligibility processes
Evaluate, manage and direct global pooling arrangements
Strategy
Responsible for reviewing health and welfare programs, suggesting modifications, and ensuring achievement of a competitive benefit program within the market
Identify gaps in the benefit programs, research possible solutions and present solutions
Design innovative and strategic enhancements to the current benefits policies and programs that fit within the company’s principles
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners (e.g. Finance, Law, Payroll, HR field professionals) on global program development and deployment,
Management
Supervise 4 direct reports supporting US benefits and collaborate to matrix manage a team of 3 regionally deployed C&B managers outside the US
Plan and coordinate departmental meetings to ensure group cohesion
Partner with outside consultants to insure compliance with regard to all benefit plans and programs
Communicate to Senior Leadership recommended changes to the benefit programs
Manage vendor relationships and negotiations
Plan and participate in special projects and studies requiring coordination of activities across departmental and functional lines
Develop relationships across the business for cross functional work
Work cross functionally with the Global C&B team to drive efficiencies to in plan design and pooling arrangements
Direct the development and ongoing review of global benefits strategy and philosophy.
Lead the design and development of global benefit policies, plans, and programs that are linked to the Company’s objectives.
Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, legal counsel, and internal and external clients through scorecards and service level agreements.
Desired Skills and Experience
Position Requirements: Required qualifications include a BA in Human Resources, Business or a related field coupled with 10+ years of experience with a proven understanding of U.S. benefits administration and strategy including retirement (401(k) and Pension), Health and Welfare, and managing vender relationships. Understanding of Global benefits necessary.
