Scope and Responsibilities:
Are you a leader who is passionate about key technology infrastructure capabilities and strategic partner management? As the Director, Database & Storage Services you will drive the strategy and operations of the database and storage technologies that power Nike.com. This includes established technologies like Oracle and open-source platforms such as Couchbase, Cassandra, Hadoop and MySQL. Critical to success is your ability to establish metrics on the health, capacity and performance of these services and partner effectively with the other Infrastructure and Engineering groups to deliver a world-class experience for our consumers. You will stay on top of industry trends, as well as corporate policies and initiatives to maximize Digital’s investment while enabling strategic goals.
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience Required:
To make it clear, we're not looking for just anyone. We're looking for someone special, someone who had these experiences and clearly demonstrated these skills:
Bachelors' degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field; 10 years additional relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of a degree
15 years of experience in IT, business or a related field with at least 10 years of directly relevant work experience
Leading teams that provide Oracle and open-source database technologies to enable incredible e-commerce solutions
Bringing database and application development teams together to produce world class user experiences
Designing and delivering database and storage technology solutions tuned for optimal e-commerce performance
Managing vendor relationships to align support model and technology roadmaps with requirements
Influencing multiple organizational levels and driving ideas from the white board to production
Producing meaningful and consistent metrics to describe the health of infrastructure services
Familiarity with hosting database technology in AWS/cloud computing is highly desirable
Delivering tactical activities while maintaining alignment with big picture
Team leadership and building positive customer relationships
