Director, Innovation & Research
Cisco Services Technology Group

Innovation & Research is at the center of our DNA at Cisco and in Cisco Services. Our ability to identify and capitalize on market transitions and “see around the corner” is critical to being the market leader for IT services. Technology is at the heart of our ability to grow the services business from $10B to $20B in the next three to five years. This senior leadership role is a pivotal piece of our Services Technology team and a unique opportunity for a senior technology thought leader to define and drive our technology strategy which underpins our transformation as a software enabled services business.

Responsibilities include:
➢ Define a comprehensive and detailed technology strategy in partnership with the Services CTO which captures market transitions and creates control points for Cisco services as we become the #1 IT services provider.
➢ Identify & capitalize on emerging technology trends which enable Cisco Services to move higher up the application stack unlocking new value for our customers
➢ Drive a multi-faceted research program across academia, standards bodies & industry workgroups designed to identify and validate emerging software technology trends and innovations which grow Cisco’s market differentiation
➢ Be the “evangelist” internally and externally to reinforce and grow Cisco Services position as a market leader for software enabled services
➢ Lead a focused software development team to define and incubate new ideas as prototypes and proofs of concept in partnership with our business stakeholders.
➢ Drive a strong interlock with the CTO, Cisco Services to ensure our technology strategy is aligned with broader Cisco & customer technology architectures
➢ Work closely with peer groups to ensure the services technology strategy is aligned to our broader business objectives
➢ Aggressively drive research, adoption and deployment of new technologies which complement our current development roadmaps.
Requirements:
➢ 20+ years software architecture, development & technology leadership experience with at least 10 years in leadership positions in software industry, with specific focus in networking and end user applications
➢ Strategic thinker with deep business acumen and an intuitive mind who can provide a holistic approach at integrating disparate pieces of information and synthetizing recommendations and translates CTO Tech vision-architecture to execution
➢ Strong background of driving disruptive ideas which have moved from concepts to production software products
➢ Proven track record to drive rapid prototyping and design for new applications
➢ Ability to translate broader business initiatives into clear team objectives and concrete individual goals, aligning appropriately with other groups for efficient, coordinated action.
➢ Passion to establish cross-departmental channels to facilitate collaborative initiatives, earn trust and work across boundaries.
➢ Experience with empowering self-organizing agile development teams, actively promoting and supporting continuous improvement
➢ Genuine excitement to build a high performance team and mentor smart people
➢ Strong executive presence, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
