Delivery Director - Deltek - Orlando


Job description
1. Manages the candidate interview process and ensures that recruiting paperwork is completed by Consulting Managers to support timely offers and rejections. Works with Corporate Recruiting to define job listings, recruiting strategy, and identify minimum qualifications for job candidates. Coordinates with the Consulting Managers, Services Business Development and the Delivery team professionals to identify skills and professional levels that should be included in the recruiting strategy.
2. Proactively assesses headcount requirements based on demand for consulting resources as determined by factors such as pipeline, backlog, succession planning, attrition, etc. Participates on the VP’s planning team to scope consulting recruiting needs.
3. Works with assigned consulting professionals to create individual career development plans and assist them in identifying ways to obtain the required experiences to manage their career progression. Maintains frequent communication with each employee, including periodic face-to-face contact in order to determine current progress against objectives.
4. Works with the Consulting Managers to shape strategies for staff development and to ensure timely coaching or other development intervention. Participates in meetings to define training and development needs, working with all line managers to ensure all practice skills are developed in line with business objectives. Manages the on boarding of new employees.
5. Shapes the future of Deltek’s services organization by managing consulting talent, assessing both performance and potential. Rewards top performers, pushes middle performers, and manages low performers up or out.
6. Maintains pro-active involvement in the staffing process, working with the Resource Managers to provide responsive service and communication to individuals making staffing requests. Develops and maintains good communications and working relationships with consulting management team members in order to foster cooperative staffing efforts and achieve mutual understanding of common issues.
7. Writes employee evaluations and conducts employee evaluation meetings for informal semi-annual reviews, formal annual reviews, and promotion readiness reviews. Addresses performance issues with individuals as they arise and documents appropriately. Completes required forms and documents for in-person meetings, distributes copies to appropriate individuals, and advises VP of any unique situations. Contacts appropriate individuals to obtain performance information that provides the professionals with clear, performance feedback that can be used to motivate good performance and improve areas in need of development.
8. Contributes to and ensures that staff and managers contribute to maintaining Deltek’s best in class consulting organization (reputation), customer centricity, customer intimacy and satisfaction, and closing sales.
9. Manages the delivery of new initiatives within the consulting organization. Works collaboratively with all reporting managers, Delivery, and Services Business Development to incorporate new consulting tools and standards into their practice. Partners with Emerging Practices to ensure field readiness for new Product/Version Releases.
10. Pro-actively builds and manages an internal and external network; seeks out new ways of working that can add value to consulting delivery; explores partner offerings and looks at how tools and skill-sets can be leveraged to the benefit of all concerned. Disseminates such information to relevant personnel.
11. Reviews with upper management consulting utilization and availability, resource status, staff development, and other consulting resource topics highlighting challenges as appropriate.

Education & Experience:
People Management: 7+ years direct management experience
Consulting: 10+ years
Industry experience: 10+ years
P&L Management: 7+ years
B.A./B.S. required, Advance degree in a related field (preferred)

Technical Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent knowledge of P&L management and forecasting process & activities, people management principles, professional development, progression planning and talent management.
Excellent knowledge of resource management.
High level knowledge of the annual budgeting process.
Operates as part of the management team, taking accountability for their own results as well as the results of the entire company.
Assesses the risks and rewards to the organization of potential decisions.
Provides leadership for multiple disciplines & teams.
Aligns Global Services with the Company’s strategic vision while leading the team in program execution in support of DGS goals.
Interface with & provide regular updates to the DGS Leadership Team and Deltek Sr. Leadership Team.
Participates in companywide leadership team activities driving strategic direction and operational execution.
Excellent oral and written communication. Excellent presentation skills.
Primarily communicates with direct reports and all levels of Deltek management either within or outside of one’s own organization; as well as the Deltek Senior Leadership Team.
Develops broad influence through a solid set of internal and external relationships.
Exhibits strong leadership skills including: coaching, developing a diverse work force, instilling commitment to quality and excellence, encouraging collaboration, promoting the flow of information among all participants, demonstrating adeptness at conflict resolution, and providing clear direction on how to meet project goals.
Manages multiple assignments effectively.
Foresees potential problems and takes corrective action to ensure achievement of goals.

Customer and Industry Knowledge:
Provides a positive impression of DGS by exceeding customer expectations and incorporates customer service into all aspects of work plan.
Has in-depth knowledge and understanding of business, technological and competitive trends.
Has a strong understanding of technical, cost, risk and business implications of potential decisions on other projects and client needs and incorporates this into recommendations.

Additional Requirements:
Physical, environmental: (lifting, sitting, bending, stooping, computer screen, keyboard, hearing, standing, etc.)
Primarily works in standard office environment.
Uses a Computer to review and produce text, spreadsheet, and graphical documents, and a photocopier to reproduce documents.

Travel Requirements:
Ability to travel 25 - 60% of the time by various conveyances, e.g., air, rail, or automobile.
