Director - Finance & Operations - Interbrand - New York


Job description
The Opportunity: Director, Finance and Operations:

The Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for business and financial operations of 2 Interbrand businesses run out of the New York office. The Director is strategic and execution focused, taking a vision and strategy and making it happen. The Director will partner closely with diverse personalities and roles to anticipate and stay ahead of all business issues and ensure best practices on all processes while simultaneously bringing people together and ensuring successful collaboration.

The Director is positioned to be a sounding board for business leaders and will advise on finance operations and people issues and initiatives. This role is a true “second chair”, playing the part in perfect harmony with the first chair’s lead. Success in this role is key to our future growth and development and will be measured by the Director’s ability to:

Understand the business, its objectives, and the operating model required to support same
Be a Partner to the CEO/MD and to the senior leadership team of the business
Identify and Develop operating efficiencies, including:

oimprovement of pricing and estimating processes
oreview of new business proposals (liaise with legal council) and Scopes of Work (SOW’s)
oforecasting accuracy, reporting progress vs. plan
oclear and simple financial reporting to non-financial individuals, including ideas on improvement of profitability
Routine and regular revenue forecasting and development of profitability projections and reports
Own financial plans and policies, accounting practices, and maintenance of financial records specifically as it relates to respective offices of ownership
Develop, analyze, and interpret statistical and reporting information for monthly, quarterly and annual operating data; report the information to senior leadership and use same for decision making regarding operational performance action
Review balance sheets and ensure integrity of data; ensure reconciliation in place
Own the quarterly reforecast process, including reconciliation of inter-company accounts, establishment of policies and procedures, and communication of monthly entries to appropriate parties
Oversee the daily operations of the business execution (i.e. people and space planning)
Liaise with Finance team, TA and HR leads to partner and resolve day-to-day business/people issues & operations
Partner with Resource Management in regards to staffing issues and freelance needs (cost/approval)
Work with the CEO/MD, and the NA CFO/COO, regarding business policies, practices, tools, and methodologies to improve and streamline the business processes, assuring efficiency and best practices for a strong, healthy business

A self-starter with a strong, proactive work ethic in addition to possessing the following knowledge and skills:
Experience in professional services/consulting environment is highly preferred
Technology and or health care related experience a strong plus
Knowledge of and experience with GAAP and SEC reporting
Previous operational experience
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management
Attention to detail
Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office suite, Hyperion, Maconomy or similar accounting packages
Ability to multitask and work effectively within a small team
BA/BS in Accounting
10+ years experience in a finance role in an agency environment or a combination of agency and client side experience
3-5+ years experience in accounting field
CPA, CMA preferred; PMP a plus
