Head - Real World Data - IT - Quintiles - Indianapolis
Job description
This Role is responsible for managing the delivery of projects relating specifically to the Healthcare Platform component of the Industrial Data Hub within Quintiles. The Head of Real World Data will work in partnership with the respective leaders in Quintiles, while managing the complexity and volume of data involved in real world analysis. This individual requires both strong management style and strong technical leadership skills to lead a team of senior, highly technical, individuals in new emerging technology sets. The individual requires a strong technical background, ability to multi task and prioritize to the business deliverables effectively. In addition you will also need to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and customers, internal and external. You will have access to support functions to achieve your day to day tasks but are responsible for all deliverables, prioritization, technical roadmap, managing deployment of staff to multiple initiatives, managing the finance of the group, and HR related activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable legislation. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems. Approve actions on human resources matters, including salary administration
· Provide technical leadership and management of IT projects from conception through deployment. Projects involve analytics, modeling, traditional technologies, and big data technologies.
· Prepare capital and operating budgets; monitor and track expenses.
· Establish project budgets, resource plans, milestones, tracking metrics, and success measures.
· Effectively manage team resources and delegate tasks commensurate with skill level. Evaluate workload and quality through regular review.
· Provide tools and technologies to facilitate ad-hoc end-user access to data.
· Identify new technologies and methods to provide end-users broader capability to meet their own information needs without compromising the integrity of the overall IT infrastructure.
· Provide training and assistance to end-users in the use of such tools or technologies
· Lead strategic initiatives and develop implementation plans. Ensure staff has a consistent understanding and positive impression of business strategy for regional and global objectives.
· Full financial responsibility and accountability for team(s); responsible for monitoring growth and performance
· Contribute to discussions on implementation of IT strategy on a regional basis and implement objectives, as appropriate.
· Negotiate service, support, lease, and consulting agreements
· Ensure adherence to IT standards and procedures. Ensure all work meets computer systems validation requirements, and any issues identified in QA or customer audits are properly addressed
· Develop and test the IT disaster recovery plan in conjunction with the business continuity plan. Provide consulting assistance to site management in the development of the business continuity plan. Develop backup/restoration/archiving plan.
· Ensure all IT activities conform to IT security standards and all data and systems are properly protected. Ensure proactive monitoring exists to detect intrusions, violations, or other unauthorized attempts to access or manipulate data or systems, whilst maintaining customer confidentiality at all times
Desired Skills and Experience
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Extensive experience in Data platforms and technologies
· Extensive experience in analytic methods approaches and toolsets
· Experience managing highly skilled technical resources
· Ability to triage issues and recommend solutions to technical team members
· Strong staff management skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple teams
· Excellent negotiation skills and good understanding of legal agreements (master service agreements, work orders, leases, consulting service agreements, other)
· Excellent project management skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to manage, develop, administer, and track capital and operating budgets
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients
