Job description
The Director of Project Management and Governance will have overall responsibility for project planning, execution and governance for the Capital Markets Hedging program which is part of Prudential’s Chief Investment Office (CIO) organization. This senior project manager is responsible for managing critical, highly visible projects and for the oversight over multiple concurrent projects run by junior project managers. Actively managing relationships with key business partners and providing guidance and decisions on project governance is critical to this role. He/she will be responsible for working closely with business partners, technology and operations team members, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of projects for the organization. Project and governance involvement may also expand into the larger CIO organization as needed.
Responsibilities:
Manage highly visible projects for the organization; utilize a project management approach which demonstrates flexible discipline and is highly interactive working with users to ensure scope is defined, alternatives are evaluated and engagement of all participants is actively managed
Manage a team of project managers and analysts providing guidance and coaching to the individuals as well as ensuring success of execution
Own and drive forward the project governance framework including the definition and enforcement of a consistent process for successful project execution
Collaborate closely with control functions such as Risk Management and Audit to ensure appropriate controls are managed within our organization
Consistently maintain a proactive and forward thinking approach to the application of project management concepts and methods to ensure consistent, flexible and successful project execution
Manage the workflow of all work to ensure timeliness and transparency to deliverable dates
Manage the prioritization process of project work
Work collaboratively across the team to ensure projects are attainable
Enhance project management skills across the team
Desired Skills and Experience
Minimum of 10 years leading projects with increasing complexity
Minimum 3 years of managing a team
Experience, interest and adaptability to working in a Waterfall or Iterative delivery environment
Ability to balance both the "science" of how to perform project management and the "art" of project management, which is learned through experience
Experience with both technology projects and strategic initiatives
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
Strong analytical and problem solving skills needed to manage multiple factors on a project simultaneously
Experience in forming strategic partnerships with functional, technology and business executives
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
Strategic perspective with ability to execute and deliver
Strong leadership and analytical skills, critical thinker, innovative, change agent
Ability to set clear expectations and demand high performance
Ability to inspire and motivate teams and individuals
Bachelors Degree required, advanced degree preferred
