Director - Finance and Enterprise Data Management - Performance Food Group - Richmond


Job description
The Director of Finance and Enterprise Data Management (EDM) has business ownership and oversight in process and technology for the Finance and EDM ecosystems. The incumbent will have responsibility for both steady state and project work. The incumbent will constantly evolve the processes and technology that drive the effectiveness of the finance delivery model. The incumbent will provide direction and integration for the enterprise financial platform on SAP as a part of PFG’s ERP efforts. The incumbent must provide direction and drive change in a complex, multi segment corporation to unify the financial back office in process and technology.

Enterprise Data Management work includes providing guidance, vision, and leadership to the current Master Data Management area, which handles data in legacy applications. The MDM area facilitates the creation of data across both master data and functional/operational data. This group creates standards and procedures according to Industry Best Practices to ensure information is appropriately consistent and is a fully utilized asset across business functions. It helps create, develop, and work with cross functional data consumers (technical and business) to resolve issues and to recommend solutions. The incumbent will play a critical role in the ERP business solution and focuses on aligning business information needs to business process and quality standards. The incumbent has project and steady state oversight for the 5 main MDM domains of Customer, Material, Vendor, Chart of Accounts and Personnel. The incumbent will establish an environment of multi-site collaboration with initial phase, final phase, and product support operations and engineering.

Project work includes driving current legacy projects and providing business direction and acumen to the final product, including providing leadership to PFG’s ERP project for the Finance and EDM work streams. The incumbent has project oversight for the financial functions including Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report, and Rebate and Agreement tracking.

Responsibilities
Responsible for working across functions (Finance, Sales, Procurement, Operations, etc.) to define and communicate Finance organization impact and to help define standards, policies, and procedures for the organization to ensure a common business vocabulary, standard finacial processes, consistent information, and the ability to leverage information across all functions
Establish and partner with data consumers (technical and business) and recommend solutions to resolve issues in data policies, data definitions, data usage, data quality, and metrics
Develop business case requirements for applicable initiatives
Meet with stakeholders to review process effectiveness. Develop, analyze, and maintain metrics for measuring compliance and improvement
Understand quality issues and process bottlenecks and create action plans to resolve
Work with IT to identify appropriate data source and standards and facilitate business validation for related EDW projects
Create, work, and test functional and technical specifications
Prioritize development work within the data management space and develop and communicate release strategies
Establish and maintain guidelines for Data Sharing and Custodial agreements (i.e., requirements, frequency, type, etc.)
Create privacy, regulatory, and continuous improvement data policies
Analyze, design, and implement practices and procedures to increase the organization's EDI footprint
Work with Customer and Supplier data teams to build and maintain EDI needs
Act as an internal data champion of the ERP solution by building teams and cross-functional support
Document and standardize approach to Finance and Enterprise Data across the company, having significant impact to the ERP project
Drives integration and readiness activities for development
Performs other related duties as assigned

Desired Skills and Experience
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, MIS, Business or related area
6 - 10 years of experience in finance and data governance activities, including establishing master data management processes
6+ years experience managing and developing teams
Finance experience, with responsibility of P&L and Balance Sheet
Large scale ERP project experience
Experience creating both Technical and Functional specifications
Proven capability in business process design
Demonstrated ability to build business partnerships and work cross-functionally to drive business results

Preferred Qualifications:
MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred
10+ years senior management experience in finance and data governance
Experience leading a large scale ERP project
