Position Description:

The Director of Network Engineering/Operations will lead the Network Infrastructure team that designs, implements, monitors, and operates our global network infrastructure. The Director will manage a highly technical, enterprise Network Infrastructure team; provide input into the overall strategic direction of IT; and drive change with the goal of continuously improving the Network Infrastructure capability.

Responsibilities:
Leads the Network Infrastructure team that designs, implements, monitors, and operates a global network infrastructure
Maintains open communication with the Vice President IT GEOS and business unit directors and VP’s
Develops, maintains, and monitors budget performance for the Network Infrastructure team and company infrastructure projects. Direct P&L budget responsibility of ~$5M/year, management of capital projects up to $10M/year, and indirect P&L budget responsibility of >$40M/year
Work, in collaboration with other departments or organizations, to develop and analyze systems in support of their projects or mission, then upgrade or enhance the network infrastructure to meet their requirements
Ensures agreed upon service levels are maintained and problems are proactively and aggressively investigated and solved
Provide leadership in the evaluation of new products and services
Participates in related network industry organizations and special interest groups
Manage vendor relationships with key suppliers
Maintains relationships with 3rd party technical support engineers/teams
Limited travel required

Desired Skills and Experience
Required:
Bachelor's degree (in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field) or 12 years relevant work experience
Minimum 8 years experience in Network Infrastructure, minimum of 10 years IT experience
Minimum of 8 years leading a highly technical infrastructure team
Experience with enterprise technologies required, including but not limited to: network equipment, load balancers, DNS, and WAN technologies
Experience with TCP/IP and common network protocols
Preferred:
Experience with routing, switching, and IP subnetting
Experience with Cisco and Nortel network equipment, on an enterprise level
Ability to demonstrate strong communication and inter-personal skills
Proven ability to succeed in a multi-task, team-oriented environment
Proven ability to work effectively, with limited supervision
