Job description
Responsibilities:
Reporting to VP of In Vitro Biology, lead a world class Cellular Assay Development group in a team environment
Lead all aspects of cellular assay development in support of plate-based In Vitro Biology including HTS.
Ensure robust and high quality assays with fast turnaround times.
Develop and validate new approaches and technologies to keep the In Vitro Biology group at the cutting edge.
Execute technology transfers to the In Vitro screening group in Shanghai.
Actively participate in building and expanding the US In Vitro Biology unit
Proactively contribute to the optimization of screening operations and development of new business
Participate in client visits and develop effective collaborations to provide top quality service
Support training of Shanghai assay team and troubleshooting for screening projects run by Shanghai team
Manage, motivate, train and develop scientists at all levels

Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in a biomedical discipline with 10+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech experience working in Drug Discovery, pharmacology assay development, screening, data analysis, automation and miniaturization technologies.
Prior experience playing a leading role in pharmacological assay development, screening and HTS.
Prior experience working with CROs is an asset.
Demonstrated leadership skill. Proven ability to direct teams of scientists and work with multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix environment.
Demonstrated excellent scientific skill as shown in publication of original research articles in key journals and in presentation of research results in scientific conferences.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, design and direct original research, draw sound conclusions and communication research results to peers and management.
Good interpersonal and organization skills, with a good sense of prioritization of resource management, and compliance with all regulations.
