VP - Insights & Analytics - Morgan Stanley - New York


Job description

The Insights & Analytics group supports the firm’s strategy of Investment Excellence by distributing the best ideas of the firm to the Financial Advisors in the context of their portfolio using ‘3D Insights’, a state-of-the-art analytics and content distribution capability.

Key focus areas of the Insights & Analytics group:

-Develop, deploy and manage 3D Insights (rule-based platform for delivering targeted ideas)

-Partner with business/product areas to develop specific distribution strategies for their investment ideas

-Partner with the Sales organization to promote usage of 3D Insights among Financial Advisors

-Partner with the various Technology teams to support the ongoing development of 3D Insights, and ensure the availability of all data required for conducting various analyses

-Support analytics to improve the collaborative filtering and predictive algorithms

-Develop analytical models (propensity, segmentation, profiling) in order to optimize 3D Insights targeting

-Develop analytical dashboards / reports, and conduct ad-hoc analyses to support decision-making

The Vice President, Analytics, focuses on developing the analytical dashboards/reports/analyses and predictive/ segmentation models. The candidate would need to demonstrate flexibility and initiative in tackling a diverse set of analytical projects. Specific responsibilities include:

-Helping the various business partners articulate their analytical requirements

-Supporting the project management needs of executing the analytical projects

-Executing ad-hoc analysis by utilizing various tools and visualization capabilities

-Developing presentations for management and key decision makers

-Partnering with data services and technology groups in building the analytical infrastructure (analytical/ visualization tools/ data layer), and deploying analytical dashboards / reports

Qualifications

-Undergraduate degree from a top school (business or statistical degree would be a plus)

-3-5 years of work experience, preferably in a business-facing analytical role

-Knowledge of retail wealth management or financial services industry preferred, but not required

-Experience using tools such Microsoft Excel (pivot tables) or Microsoft Access, reporting tools (e.g., Business Objects) and visualization tools (e.g., SpotFire, Tableau, QlikView) Experience with analytical tools (e.g. SAS, IBM SPSS Business Modeler) and SQL scripting preferred, but not required

-Aptitude in structuring and solving data related problems

-Strong project management, analysis and presentation skills

-Team player, strong people skills

-Self-starter, creative problem solver with a passion for developing strategic insights

-Cross-functional experience working with sales, products, marketing, and technology groups is a plus
