Vice President - Sales - Uversity - San Francisco


Job description
The Role
As Vice President of Sales, you will be responsible for developing and executing our sales strategy while managing our existing team of business development associates. The ideal candidate, reporting directly to the CEO, will have start-up experience with demonstrated success building out a sales team, partnering with the executive team to strengthen the company's go-to-market strategy and performance. For the past few years, Uversity has had continued growth and now we need a dynamic and experienced sales executive to build off of that growth.

Responsibilities:
Manage and mentor the existing team of 3 business development associates. Recruit new staff as needed to further augment our high performing team.
Get your hands dirty, you are not shy about carrying your own quota and showing the team how it's done.
Develop and execute Uversity’s sales strategies to continue to drive significant growth.
Member of executive team, providing input on company strategy and direction.
Build close and productive relationships with key prospects and current customers.
Act as an ambassador for the company and our solutions. Help build awareness, recognition, respect and preference for Uversity in the market.
Proactively participate in trade shows and conferences to network with existing clients and generate new leads.
Expand and lead sales team to create predictable results and achievement culture of a world-class SaaS sales team, while surpassing team quota for new client account revenue.
Measure and continuously improve sales skills and processes to drive higher penetration within the higher education market
Define and implemented commission plan, weekly pipeline reviews to ensure the internal process and compensation plan drives the desired selling behaviors.
Work closely with Marketing to refine all sales-driven marketing efforts, including: web site, prospect list development, sales collateral, presentation development, case studies, social media, trade-show support and PR

Desired Skills and Experience
Superb consultative sales skills. Ability to understand prospect pain points, qualify opportunities and evangelize our solutions in a compelling and differentiated way. Ability to be extremely persistent in a pleasant fashion.
Ability to be hands-on and tactical with execution, when needed, as well as the ability to mentor and lead the sales team.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Articulate, persuasive and engaging. Good analytical skills with the ability to tell a compelling story with pictures, numbers, and words.
Experience developing and executing vertical-specific sales plans. Experience building sales presentations and materials.
Strong work ethic. Self-motivated. Passionate. A desire to blaze new paths and share your experience and learnings with those around you.
Understanding of and/or avid interest in social media, predictive analytics and big data.
Deep understanding of SaaS sales processes
Proven sales leadership experience in a successful business SaaS company of 5 years taking companies from early revenue to $25M or exit. while consistently exceeding team goals.
Superior written and oral communication skills.
Strong executive presence with customers and industry leaders.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of educational /experience.
Working knowledge with various SaaS reporting tools and SFDC to provide reports and drive operations.
