Job description
Senior Director in the Compliance Officer of a U.S. Global Multi-National Financial Software and Services firm.
Provide strategic oversight, pragmatic management, regulatory guidance and advice to ensure the company's operations and regulated and unregulated activities are conducted in compliance with the company's ethics and compliance program and the legal and regulatory obligations applicable to the company's business operations.
The successful candidate will have in-depth experience in one of the following Risk Areas: US and EU privacy and data protection compliance; export and trade sanctions compliance; or, global anti-corruption compliance. A working knowledge in one or more of the other Risk Areas is strongly preferred.
The role will also be responsible for all matters involving compliance policies, systems, and controls and the development of pragmatic guidance in Risk Area(s) within the scope of responsibility. The person in this position will be responsible for working with in-house and outside counsel and senior management to ensure that activities, processes and business operations are conducted in accordance with our ethics and compliance program. Success in the role will be measured by the candidate's ability to build and manage a compliance framework that materially reduces the company's risk of inadvertent program violations and sufficiently reduces the likelihood that violations go undetected. The role will also manage special projects within the compliance office.
This role will work within the Legal Department and report to the VP of Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer and be located in the Philadelphia area (in the Wayne Office).
Influence and Management
The position requires a high caliber proactive attorney. The successful candidate must be an effective communicator, possess strong influencing skills. The successful candidate must have the adaptability to work within a highly de-centralized, organization and partner with Legal, Senior Executives and Directors in Purchasing, Finance, IT, Product Development, Auditing and other business functions as needed to implement the program policy and controls worldwide. The Compliance Director will be a senior member of a small centralized Compliance team and will be expected to add value accordingly. Responsibilities include:
Program development and implementation of policy, procedures, and standards to operate an effective company-wide compliance program in the applicable Risk Area.
Localization of policy, guidance, and controls where local legal requirements or cultural norms require changes to ensure effective program implementation.
Development of computer based training and in-person training in the area(s) of responsibility.
Project management of program implementation including defining project scope, goals and deliverables, defining project tasks, identifying resource requirements, executing project work plans to time frames and budget.
Qualifications
JD degree with 10 years' experience in legal and compliance related roles.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
Ability to lead teams.
