Financial Controller - Craft Sportswear - Boston


Job description

Controller

As Controller, overall responsibility is to ensure timely reporting and compliance for all accounting and financial functions. Maintain established financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems in accordance with GAAP. Oversee financial accounting, accounts receivable/collection, payroll, product costing, payables, and inventory and risk management.

Principle Accountabilities:

1. Financial Statements

Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and related management reports that are meaningful to tithe business and ensure the integrity and compliance of all financial and regulatory reporting, controls, processes and systems.

2. Annual Operating Plan and Cash Flow Planning

Drive the annual budgeting process and develop detailed financial plans for the business. In addition to income statement, balance sheet and cash flow, detailed plans for inventory, sales revenue, travel expenses and capital expenditures will be established.

3. Management

Supervise accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely production of all financial information; provide support and training on Company’s ERP system and develop solutions to business problems. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance. Oversees thee annual employee review process for the company.

4. Manage Cash Flow and Payments

Approve all checks, wire transfers and payments and ensure that payments are made in compliance with company policies. Ensure that cash is available to meet short term operating requirements of thee company.

5. Forecasting

Develop semi-annual financial forecasts and projections off sales and profit based on sales booking trends and expense projections and recommend spending guidance based on these projection s. additionally, cash flow forecasts are determined and communicated to investors.

6. Compliance

Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions. Coordinate with external

Auditors to ensure timely completion of reviews, taxes, and audits. Prepare analytical support and

Documentation for annual financial audit.

Manage professional employment organization compliance and other human resource compliance

Matters including compensation, 401(k), benefits and human resource policies.

Oversee risk management and other business liability insurance.

Education and experience:

BS/BAA in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Seven to ten years experience managing an accounting function in a medium size company, inn a wholesale distribution setting. Proven proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV or other significant ERP system is required. Certification (CPA or CMA) is a plus as is knowledge of U.S. Customs and related international regulations
