Director - Planning and Allocation - Eastern Mountain Sports - Boston

Job description
The Director of Merchandise Planning and Allocationis a strategic level position. The purpose of this position is to ensure that EMS establishes and achieves Merchandise Plans that maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. This is chiefly accomplished through effective merchandising planning and accurate/ on-time product flow.
Responsibilities:

Direct the development and execution of the Merchandise Plan for retail and ecommerce:
Sales: full retail, markdown and promotional
Promotional items and events
Turn
Inventory
Receipts
Gross Margin: IMU%, CMU % and retail reductions
Set strategy and goals that support Company Vision, Values and Strategy
Exemplify leadership expectations and Company Values
Direct management and allocation of OTB (retail and internet)
Direct Merchandise Plan re-forecasting process (retail and internet)
Direct merchandise allocation and replenishment function

Produce planned financial results
Partner with the GMM and Merchandise Directors in support of strategic merchandising objectives
Partner with Finance to synchronize EMS Financial and Merchandise Plans
Partner with Merchandise Directors in the development of the Promotional Calendar
Communicate Merchandise Plan to actual performance, including recommendations on forward action, to Executive Committee
Facilitate clear communication between Stores, Marketing, Product Management and Merchandise Planning and Allocation
Establish, implement and maintain best practices for merchandise planning, allocation & replenishment and pricing processes and people.
Aggressively drive current and future systems utilization within areas of responsibility
Develop and articulate direction for Manager of Allocation & Replenishment, Merchandise Planners, Merchandise Analysts and Pricing Specialist
Manage the performance and development of the Merchandise Planning and Allocation Team

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
10+ years inventory management experience in a multi-channel environment, including ecommerce and retail
Strong understanding of the financial measures; able to evaluate financial indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results
Strategic agility to create and articulate competitive strategies.
