Director of Copywriting, Brand Creative Group

Join the biggest startup in Silicon Valley—Yahoo. As the Director of Copywriting, you’ll be integral to the renaissance of a world-class brand. You’ll have a leadership role within the team responsible for redefining the Yahoo brand and marketing its new and innovative products. You’ll be charged with writing consumer and B2B marketing copy, authoring and editing corporate presentations, managing our “voice” and copy style guidelines, and above all, ensuring that we are always consistent, accurate, and undeniably Yahoo across all of our communications. Candidate Profile: We’re looking for perfect blend of creativity and editorial maturity.

The ideal candidate must be an excellent writer, editor and proofreader with consumer, B2B and corporate communications experience. He/she must have authored brand style guidelines and be demanding about adherence to details. He/she must be able to think creatively and strategically and adapt his/her style to different audiences. Experience working within a corporate environment – ideally for a tech or consumer brand – is important. Finally the ideal candidate will have led creative or writing teams and can demonstrate an ability to develop and mentor creative talent.

Job Responsibilities:

· Establish and manage copy style guidelines.

· Develop themes and write copy for B2B marketing presentations, events and experiences, and Yahoo advertiser portals.

· Structure and author the narrative for internal presentations; write and edit copy for executive presentations.

· Develop concepts and write copy for consumer campaigns, emails, app stores, and related channels.

· Influence and or edit copy developed by various Yahoo teams – e.g. customer experience – to ensure that it reflects the brand and our style guidelines.

· Mentor internal teams, collaborate with Yahoo Corporate Communications, and work with external agencies as necessary.

Job Requirements:

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Social media fanatic.

· Insatiable worth ethic with ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

· In-house corporate or tech company experience.

· Eight years+ of experience as a senior writer, editor or corporate communications professional.

· Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, English, Journalism, Communications, or Advertising.
