Director - Content Acquisition - Flat World Knowledge, Inc. - New York City

Job description
We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented Director of Content Acquisition to join the Content Team at Flat World Knowledge. This individual will be given an opportunity to expand web and mobile content acquisition, development, and management skills through exposure to a number of experiences including acquiring content through licensing deals, as well as via signing and sponsoring new authors; researching and developing new content using OER databases; and working with institutions/educators to develop new programs in competency-based education. The candidate will have ownership over assigned projects, but will also work within a collaborative, team atmosphere. The position is based in our NYC office and reports to the VP of Content.

Desired Skills and Experience
Responsibilities:
Acquire content via licensing, partnership and signing new authors
Research and develop new content utilizing OER
Work with faculty and staff of clients to create and curate content for new courses as well convert existing course materials into web-based, interactive classes
Develop, and manage the production of, web-based instructional content and design, including texts, study and exam questions, etc.
Manage numerous author and vendor relationships
Manage detailed project schedules
Collaborate with editorial colleagues (project managers, instructional designers, and the VP of Content) as well as other FWK teams (marketing, technology, sales, etc.)
Communicate status of projects, including risk remediation recommendations as needed
Travel, on average, once or twice per month

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required
3-5 years editorial management experience, preferably in academic, educational technology or academic publishing environments
Ability to utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools
Ability to quickly learn company technology
Strong organizational skills
Team player and collaborator
Excellent oral and written communication skills
