Director - External Manufacturing - Putney, Inc. - Portland

Job description
Putney is a rapidly growing drug company focused on generic drugs for pets. We seek an experienced External Manufacturing Director to oversee our manufacturing partners in order to deliver a reliable supply of high quality medicines.

The Director will report to the VP, Technical Operations and have the opportunity to work across the entire value chain to help deliver a continuous supply of products. He or she will partner with R&D during process validation and assume responsibility as Putney’s lead contact with multiple manufacturers of finished dosage forms and active pharmaceutical ingredients. The Director will work with Sales and Marketing to understand the product demand and establish production schedules at the partners. The emphasis over the next few years will be to assist in the validation and launch of a large portfolio of products.
Desired Skills and Experience
The Director will be a team player who is creative and relentless in solving problems and overcoming obstacles. The individual will adapt to changes in assignments based on the portfolio and the capabilities of other Putney team members. A minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply chain management is essential, and some experience working with external manufacturing partners or with customers at a contract manufacturer is required. Experience manufacturing human pharmaceuticals is preferred and the ideal candidate will have knowledge with multiple products forms including steriles, orals, topicals or APIs. Global experience in technical support, quality, supply chain or operations management will be highly valued. The position is full time in Portland, Maine. Frequent international and domestic travel to manufacturers will be required.
