Facilities Director - iRobot - Boston
Job description
Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, the Facilities Director will plan, direct and coordinate all aspects of facility management, safety & compliance and security for iRobot facilities. A seasoned professional, the successful candidate demonstrates a strategic approach ensuring future needs and capabilities are anticipated and proactively met. At the same time, he/she will possess the required experience in facilities planning, lease administration, budget management, maintenance, equipment reliability, 24/7 security, emergency response, utility support systems, critical building systems and training to meet the day-to-day tactical aspects of the position. With an ideal background in growth stage technology companies, the successful candidate has managed multi-building facilities and has provided oversight, support and lease administration for remote locations, both domestically and abroad. Visible and interactive, the Facilities Director is a service oriented professional with impeccable key business customer relationship and vendor management skills. A member of the Business Continuity Planning Committee and the Security Committee the Facilities Director is a team player, an articulate communicator, analytical and above all a business minded professional experienced in the art of managing short term needs with long term business requirements.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or related discipline.
Extensive experience in managing a facilities department of a 200K+ square foot private industry complex, ideally in high tech, with remote locations internationally.
Experience at the Senior Management Level; technical knowledge of best practices in the facilities management discipline (including engineering, architecture, and maintenance activities); and proven experience in balancing the short term tactical priorities with long term strategic objectives.
Diverse knowledge of utility systems and the operation and maintenance of various building types that are present on campus; knowledge of various trade support areas, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, instrumentation, safety systems, fleet and equipment maintenance.
Ability to lead and manage within a complex organization, providing effective oversight and guidance of operational, management and administrative issues; creativity in decision-making and problem-solving, experience in human resource management and a commitment to mentoring and career development.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively influence, negotiate, discuss, and present to all levels of the organization
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively build and maintain working partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to interact at the highest level of management, both internally and externally, in a constructive and collaborative manner and in a way that appropriately represents the organization
Experience working in an environment dedicated to quality, safety, and customer service.
