Tax Director - PROS - Houston


Job description
The Tax Director will be responsible for overall corporate tax strategy and functions, global tax awareness, transfer pricing, and FAS 109/ASC 740 while being challenged in this dynamic, team-oriented position. This position has responsibility for numerous global tax initiatives and will also play a role in identifying, evaluating and implementing tax planning strategies. He or she will report to the Sr. Director of Finance and work with accounting and finance personnel, local country finance managers, Big 4 public accounting firms and tax advisers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the global income tax provision (FAS 109/ASC740) and tax-related SEC filing disclosures including effective tax rate analysis, APB 23 disclosures, FIN 48, deferred tax assets and liabilities, and related financial reporting.
Oversee all aspects of quarterly and annual tax reporting and compliance on a worldwide basis, with a specific focus on US GAAP reporting requirements, including computation of the forecasted effective tax rate and reporting of all tax account activity.
Transfer pricing analysis including monitoring global transfer pricing policies, evaluating profit levels and appropriate global transfer pricing reporting processes.
Independently drive the design, execution, delivery and evaluation of complex issues and the overall impact to domestic (federal and multi-state) and international income taxes.
Effectively communicate on a timely basis the key risks and opportunities within the Company’s quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and close process.
Oversee the completion and filing of all required tax filings.
Manage relationships with outside service providers, ensuring effective communication on all matters.
Work closely with business, operations and accounting personnel to identify, develop and implement tax planning opportunities and enterprise-wide tax strategies that align with business objective and legal to ensure the legal entity formation process is linked with all tax considerations.
Ensure appropriate monitoring and compliance with income tax laws, tax and risk minimization, and appropriate documentation.
Manage domestic (federal and multi-state) and international income tax research initiatives and changes in income tax law.
Ensure appropriate compliance with SOX requirements related to domestic and international income taxes.
Identify, develop and implement strategies, practical solutions, policies and procedures.
Manage federal, state and international income tax audits and related matters, successfully negotiating favorable outcomes.
Review and/or compile key account reconciliation of tax accounts.
People/talent management. Oversee and coach the Tax management team on selecting, developing, and retaining best-in-class talent.

Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements and Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related.
8 plus years progressive international, federal, and multi-state corporate income tax planning and compliance experience required, preferably a combination of public and industry.
International tax planning experience a must
In-depth knowledge of accounting pronouncements (e.g., FAS 109/ASC 740) and solid understanding of tax accounting.
Highest level of professional ethics and integrity in decision making. Good written and verbal communication skills.
Strong knowledge of corporate income tax laws and administration.
Effective problem solver and decision maker. Results oriented.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with strong PC skills.
Capable of interacting with all levels of management.
Preferred Qualifications:
2-6 years Big 4 public accounting experience
CPA certification preferred
Masters in Taxation and/or JD
