Director - IT - Arkadium - New York


Job description
Arkadium, a top game development studio in NYC developing casual, mobile, social and Windows 8 games, is looking for a hands-on Director of IT to own, lead and oversee the management, strategy and execution of IT infrastructure across our 2 sites.
The person in this role will be part of Arkadium’s Engineering team and will be working side-by-side with a group of smart, hard-working and fun individuals, who are all extremely passionate about building cutting-edge, industry-leading software and IT solutions.

Responsibilities
Direct strategy and tactics for the IT department. Ensure our IT infrastructure stays one step ahead of the company’s growth curve.
Lead, mentor and grow a team of IT professionals. As a team, under your hands-on leadership, you will own and manage all aspects of IT across our managed production hosting site and our 2 offices in New York (USA) and Simferopol (Ukraine):
Manage the budget for the department; manage hardware and software procurement and control the associated costs.
Own, maintain and scale our Cisco based network infrastructure, including routers, switches, security and monitoring appliances.
Own and manage our Microsoft Active Directory based domains that span 2 physical locations on 2 continents.
Own and manage our Microsoft based web farm (IIS, SQL Server).
Own and manage scalability, redundancy, backups and disaster recovery in our production and back office systems, including monitoring, notifications and escalation chains.
Own and manage our Microsoft based back office infrastructure and systems including Exchange, SharePoint, phone systems etc.
Own and enforce security at the network and application level.
Support our software development teams, including Microsoft TFS, SVN, SQL Servers etc.
Manage virtualization environments with production and back office systems on Microsoft Hyper-V; virtual machine management, capacity planning and performance tuning.
Own, negotiate and maintain contracts, agreements and relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
Maintain visibility and transparency about the health of our systems, both internally and to our clients.
Oversee and manage the corporate help desk activities, including being part of the escalation chain.
Internet circuits, including troubleshooting and upgrades.
VoIP systems, including troubleshooting and upgrades.
Video conferencing systems, including Polycom and Microsoft Lync.
Manage hardware and software assets, including production environments as well as development and back-office systems.
Maintain high standards in terms of written materials/documentation, including system level documentation, infrastructure/incident reports, monitoring anomalies.

Desired Skills and Experience
About you
You hold at least a B.S. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
You are a hands-on expert in most or all of the relevant technologies, and you have very strong team leadership and mentoring abilities.
Expert in Microsoft IT software including Windows Server, Active Directory, Windows domains, and Exchange.
Expert in Cisco network infrastructure technologies (routers, switches, security appliances), monitoring and uptime
Experience with web hosting technologies including web farm load balancing, security, redundancy and disaster recovery.
Extensive knowledge of virtualization, preferably on Microsoft Hyper-V, including administration, capacity planning and performance tuning.
Experience with managing cloud environments, especially Windows Azure, is a big plus.
