Job description
Open Innovation Center (OIC) is a recently launched Samsung Electronics organization based in Silicon Valley, CA. OIC’s mission is to incubate and build world class software and service capabilities. OIC will be active in four primary areas:
Investments in and acquisitions of early stage technology startups
Incubation and prototyping of software services for Samsung devices
Strategic partnerships with leading media and tech companies and universities
Collaboration with entrepreneurs, startups and developers to foster development for Samsung cross-device ecosystem

Bringing together Samsung Electronics’ substantial resources with the Silicon Valley’s top talents, OIC will create and develop digital technologies that will power hundreds of millions of devices and impact consumers on a global basis.
Our new Head of Human Resources will combine the art and science of people, strategy, and operations. We’re looking for a strong, experienced manager to lead the people growth team (aka HR) in building the people growth strategies, programs, and processes.

Essential Responsibilities:
Drive culture and change management, collaborating closely with and challenging the leadership team in creating and implementing solutions that align with and reflect the culture and business strategy
Foster a people-focused environment that embraces change, supports the culture and vision, as well as provide open communication
Lead the creation of a culture that promotes a great place to work
Instill a high performance culture with a focus on continuous improvement
Lead the HR team driving direction, goals, hiring strategies and manage a portfolio of programs including employee communications, employment branding, and facilities/reception functions as it relates to culture and explosive headcount growth
Desired Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to challenge, motivate and act as a true business partner to the leadership team
Seven (7) years of related HR management experience and a degree in a related technical subject required; post-graduate coursework is desirable.
Broadly recognized domain expertise in one or more areas of talent development, compensation and career planning, program management, and/or culture development
Strong knowledge of HR initiatives, experience in HR at a tech or internet business
Pragmatism, resilience, tenacity and the ability to deal with ambiguity and change
A proven leader who is a strategist and practitioner with a strong track record of successfully implementing people programs and initiatives
Strong self-awareness and an open and authentic leadership style
Proven analytical and influencing skills and an exceptional ability to quickly build partnerships at all levels within an organization
Versatility, flexibility, and ability to work within constantly changing priorities
Extraordinary communications capability to align communication plans with all initiatives.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business/Human Resources/Psychology or equivalent required, with M.A. or M.S. preferred
