Job Description

The Position
The Director, Nutropin Marketing leads the function and team responsible for strategic brand marketing of products and their approved indications in the assigned Genentech franchise(s).

Example Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads and oversees the development and implementation of marketing strategies and plans for Nutropin that will meet or exceed established goals and targets
Leads a marketing team of 8 individuals, and oversees our reimbursement and access team (via an outside vendor) of 30+ individuals
Leads and oversees the development and implementation of managed care access strategies, pull-through execution and reimbursement support through collaboration with our managed care partners, field teams and vendors
Collaborates with Franchise Sales and other Commercial Operations and Development groups to develop a comprehensive, strategic business plan, including specific, measurable and action-oriented objectives that grow franchise profitability and adoption
Regularly commissions market research and other external data to educate the team and help to inform brand strategies, plans and tactics
Leads development and implementation of 3-year and 1-year brand and tactical plans and brand marketing operating/expense budgets Responsible for seamless execution of brand strategies, plans and tactics and overall compliance with budgets
Assumes full responsibility for lifecycle plan(s) and associated LRP (Long-range plan) for Nutropin
Contributes towards business development opportunities that may deliver future expansion to the growth hormone and endocrinology franchise
Provides leadership skills, knowledge and abilities in helping to identify/create innovative strategies, plans and tactics that will help improve year-on-year brand adoption and overall financial results
Identifies, develops, implements and maintains an appropriate and aligned infrastructure of internal and external resources that are required to achieve the defined vision, strategy and goals of Nutropin. Participates or leads in negotiation of larger-scale vendor agreements and ensures best terms for Genentech. Advises/coaches and directs team in negotiating medium to smaller-scale vendor agreements
Self and team collaborate on clinical projects
Represents the brand marketing strategy and plans for all products in the Nutropin to others inside and outside of Genentech
Achieves margin goals and increases rate of market adoption for Nutropin
Hires, develops and oversees the work of direct and indirect reports
Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities

Who you are
Qualifications and Experience: unless stated as "preferred" or "a plus," all other criteria is required
Bachelors Degree
MBA or other related graduate-level degree is preferred
Average of 10 or more years' work experience
A minimum of 4 years' previous product marketing experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other related industry with a track record of progressing to higher/more senior product marketing roles & responsibilities
Previous field sales management experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other related industry is strongly preferred; ideally, area or regional management experience, as an indication of previous leadership of larger-scale workforces
Previous/direct managed care experience - either in account management, payer-focused marketing, reimbursement programs or other - is preferred
Previous experience working in support functions such as Sales Training, Sales Operations, etc. is preferred
Working knowledge of product development, regulatory, business development and clinical affairs
Demonstrable abilities to establish physician thought leader and other relevant stakeholder relationships
Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding financial and/or other quantitative targets, as well as qualitative goals, for larger-scale product marketing organizations
Previous experience leading larger-scale business planning processes, to include development & implementation of such plans, goals and metrics
Business travel, by air or car, is required for regular internal and external business meetings
