Job Description
The Director Media Relations is responsible for strategy, messaging, promotion and coordination of corporate/executive interactions with major news and trade media.
The Director Media Relations will participate in the formation of media strategy, serve as corporate spokesperson, manage corporate communications in crisis situations, develop relationships with key media to build awareness of BNSF and its role in the economy, prepare and approve statements, and respond to media inquiries, promote and secure opportunities for fair and objective coverage and promote the company's public policy and business initiatives through the media.
Desired Skills & Experience
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
Two to five years experience in a communications management.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Extensive knowledge and two to five years experience working with the media.
Ability to quickly learn about BNSF and the issues impacting BNSF, its customers and the communities it serves.
Two to five or more years of experience in a media, corporate communications, or issues management environment.
RELOCATION: As needed
TRAVEL: 10-15%

Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC): Federal authority requires BNSF employees, whose work requires unescorted access to secure areas of port facilities, to obtain a TWIC.
