This position contributes to the development and execution of Tesoro's enterprise-wide community investment strategy and oversees the implementation of initiatives that align community needs with business priorities and employee interests.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise-Wide Programs
Contributes to developing and executing an enterprise-wide community investment strategy and initiatives that drive organizational and societal value.
Communicates and enforces corporate guidelines related to charitable giving and volunteerism. Reviews current enterprise-wide relationships to determine alignment with strategy, and identifies and evaluates new prospective partners.
Implements measurement criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of corporate community investment programs in creating shared value for Tesoro's multiple stakeholder groups. Oversees the enterprise-wide community investment budget.
Provides guidance and support to the local teams executing the community investment strategy in the communities where Tesoro operates. Oversee the development of Tesoro's Social Responsibility Report and prepare the report's Community Investment section.
Implements a system to track volunteer hours company wide. Fosters volunteerism throughout the organization by promoting projects and outcomes through internal channels.
Local Programs-San Antonio/Corporate Headquarters
Executes Tesoro's community investment strategy in San Antonio and promotes community awareness of Tesoro supported events. Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations and represents Tesoro at company-sponsored events.
Reviews current community relationships to determine alignment with strategy and identifies and evaluates new prospective charitable partners. Reviews and responds to/oversees charitable requests, tracks approvals and declines and administers approved grants to community organizations.
Maintains the San Antonio community investment budget. Manages the Team Tesoro volunteer program (including schedule, budget, etc.) and oversees company-sponsored volunteer activities.
Develops and distributes communications in support of community activities and fosters relationships with employee volunteers. Reviews the current slate of employee volunteer opportunities to determine alignment with strategy.
Identifies and evaluates new and prospective employee volunteer opportunities. Tracks the number of hours logged by Tesoro volunteers in San Antonio. Contributes to establishment of social media communications platform for volunteers.
Desired Skills & Experience
Education:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or related field required.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years in community affairs/relations, corporate philanthropy, nonprofit or foundation management or equivalent experience with progressively increasing accountabilities.
Special Skills:
Background in development and execution of community investment strategy and programming.
Proven experience in developing and maintaining relationships with executives and community leaders.
Budget accountability.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and familiarity with corporate giving / volunteer management tools; web communications; and social media content and channels.
