I. Position Summary
The Director, Benefits Tax has responsibility for all domestic and international tax issues related to executive compensation and employee benefits. The role of the Director, Benefits Tax is to advise various groups throughout the organization including tax, legal, human resources, global mobility, and payroll. This position reports to the Senior Director, M&A and Benefits Tax.
II. Principal accountabilities
• Advise corporate functions on all tax issues for the Company’s compensation and benefit plans, with a particular focus on executive compensation.
• Perform employee benefits due diligence for potential acquisitions.
• Address benefit plan tax issues for other corporate transactions, e.g. divestures, reorganizations.
• Monitor new and proposed tax law changes and provide input on implication to the enterprise and recommended action steps
• Consult on responses to audit issues relating to corporate compensation deductions, payroll tax, worker classification, taxation of fringe benefits, etc.
• Partner with human resources and legal (Comp & Benefits Counsel) on all benefits matters to ensure timely and adequate communication.
III. Requirements
• Minimum 7+ years of experience preferably with a Big Four accounting firm or a nationally recognized law firm. Corporate experience a plus.
• Masters of Tax or JD/LLM preferred.
• Specific technical areas required: strong tax technical expertise related to compensation and benefits with a particular focus on executive compensation.
• Track record of being able to build relationships throughout an organization at multiple levels.
• Strong communication skills; will interact with individuals at all levels both in and out of tax.
